Who voted for England and Brazil? Come on, fess up! You’re all footballing geniuses on here…
I prefer rugby (that’s “Egg” in Darran talk) but the team I voted for is at least in the semi-finals!

I went for Argentina and my second choice would have been France. I should have gone for a win and each way on both. They will probably meet in the final but with this World Cup you never know.

Another twat who twists people's words to make his point.
Where do I say all England fans are gammons? Learn to read, good boy.

There's only one person trying to make a point here, good boy.

Did I dream 1966? Did I dream Sterling diving to get them through in the Euros.

What a bun :( ch of dicks.

At least it's two years now until the next pile of nonsense. With the players they have, they should have brushed that injury ravaged French team aside. Wjhat Lineker needs to write is Once, Just Once, maybe we'll show some guts when we play against a decent team.
I cant bloody wait to hear Cundy on tomorrow nights Sports bar. I might even ring in, just to take the p!$$. Bless 😂

He does make a good point but what he fails to mention is that zero Welsh people thought and bragged that we would even get out of the group stage, ergland on the other hand yet again had themselves nailed on to win the cup, you'd of thought they would of learned by now. 😂

Yeah, well said .
But it's still fckn hilarious to watch em implode....AGAIN.

England have a mountain to climb to win a major tournament. Their best players all play in the PL, where diving is endemic and the players from big clubs have a free pass do it as much as they like.

Add to that, referees watch football games in their spare time. They all know about England Denmark at the Euros, they have heard the complaints from Italy about England in the final, they have watched games where England players routinely dive pretty much all the time - and then get annoyed when the referee doesn't buy it. So they don't trust England players one tiny bit.

No referee wants to be the guy who got conned and gave the match away to cheating (like England Denmark) so they are all very careful in the big matches. They don't give England anything that's debatable because they don't want to look stupid.

All I've heard/read is long explanations as to why.
Simple answer is they bottled it.
End of.

Good spot Daz. A manager with a 39.9% win ratio should definitely be talking about 'rewarding failure'. Barton has the self-awareness of a lump of clay.

If anything, this tournament has proven that England are light years behind when it comes to the dark arts of professional football. Argentina's antics against Holland, Uruguay's histrionics, France's tactical fouling of Saka, etc.

I didn't say England were good at it, I said they do it all the time. Add to that Maguire's constant mithering (which I think he was doing less of this time) and you have a formula to alienate the referee.

Fair enough. Though I'd suggest that Uruguay's players actually making contact with the officials is quite a step up. As for Maguire, I'll raise you Bruno Fernandes, a player who moans far more to the referee and yet it doesn't seem to go against his team. It also can't have gone against England all that much, they were given 2 penalties against the French after all.

My point is that you'd have to be pretty biased to watch all the games of this tournament and come away thinking England do the most to alienate referees.

The second penalty was absolutely blatant, yet the referee didn't give it, didn't want to give, was sent to look at the screen, and only then finally did.

I am not saying that England are the worst, that there aren't a lot of bad actors out there, rather they have now got a reputation. The theft of the Denmark game has been particularly damaging, partly because England and their supporters have this fantasy that they are so much cleaner than everyone else.
