‘Skint’ - wtf !?
They’re clearly not skint having recently spent the most ever outside of the prem. Top quartile spenders in the league.
And with Cravatt, Morris and AC investing 10s of £millions we are certainly well placed to not just have our structural gap filled each year but to also continue to invest to achieve our ambitious objectives.
With your analyst hat on - how much more do you want us to spend, whilst also not falling foul of P&S rules.(FFP)?
You talk as if we have millions in the bank and are making an operating profit each year? Our financial power is hugely dependent on player sales which, with our academy being downgraded, is becoming increasingly difficult.
The reason we had such an amount of money in the summer was because of the said investments from Coleman, Cravatt and Morris. These are one off, cash injections with a hope of getting a return. They aren't going to be pumping any more money in, any money we spend from now on will need to come from player sales, and further investors, that's it. There's no more money coming from the current owners other than to keep the books balanced.
If we do fail to raise funds from player sales then our biggest enemy will be FFP, only so much investment money can be spent without us having an increase in revenue, and our day to day operations are not exactly making us a profit.
I know people say we need new owners, but what they really want is leadership. The owners aren't the worst with regards to finances, yes they're not cash rich and plowing money in, but they aren't landing us in 7 figure debts like other clubs in the Champ have been. Worst thing we could do is spunk a load of money and fall foul of FFP. We need someone who knows football at the helm, somone who knows how to invest in our academy and a develop good mix of young players and get good deals on experienced players.
Last thing I want is a Vincent Tan or Chansiri type owner coming in to the club and running it into the ground trying to get too involved and spunk money away.
Far too many fans forget where we were 20+ years ago.
