The summer of test cricket - Ashes 2023

Backfired.

It was a daft decision to put them in that late in the day for 4 overs, pointless. Should have just batted the day out and put Aussies this morning.

It was a daft decision because they didn't take a wicket. It was a bold, unexpected move that could easily have unsettled the Aussies.

It didn't work and the result is that England have 18 wickets to Australia's 20 for this match.
Bazball has made Test Cricket much more interesting and after all these years it's surprising that anyone could reinvent Test Cricket to this degree.

On what planet do sky think that Pietersen is a better listen than Bumble?

Even I could see that the Aussies were rattled throughout their brief turn at bat last night so the risk was worth it.

The chance of a quick wicket or 20 more runs. Had they got the wicket then it would have been genius , hey ho.

They could have got a wicket in each of those 4 overs, That's like the old saying if my auntie had balls she'd have been my uncle argument,

Anyway, its done now and its a good start by Englands attack and as I write Broad takes Warners wicket again

Don't think Bumble would have been considered, after comments he had said historically were raised during the Yorkshire Cricket racism investigation.

Although Michael Vaughan was said to have made comments as well I think and he's there :?

Some proper knee jerk reactions on this thread it’s like a swans match day thread.

How??

I offered my opinion on last nights decision and I stand by that opinion, todays a new day, go grab a sarsaparilla pull up a chair and watch and see on how the day develops at Edgbaston

Pitch started as a belter, now has literally no pace in it. Fair play to Stokes constantly changing up the attack.

On the money this morning, Smith's wicket is going to be crucial to the way it will pan out today, as for putting them in last night rather than this morning my take is it was another bold and correct decision by Stokes, drink it in lads 👊💥
