• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

To be fair here, Guebells was clearly the big signing and went a good distance and we failed at the death.
Keith has also mentioned us looking in Scotland a few weeks back so looks like he was spot on.
I think Keith has a connection that will be as good as you can get.
I read that. At the time it was mentioned 2 strikers. Maybe loan from Scotland. I think he has been on our radar for a while as Keith mentioned the first striker would be our main target and second would be bench warmer. Maybe second choice is now number 1?

My friend in Glasgow who is a fanatical Celtic fan texted me earlier about Idah.

“The worst player ever to wear the hoops. And there's been a few.”
Well, when I once signed him in football manager (As a Swansea manger, needless to say), he was very good😉

Celtic fans are like us over demonising individual players, but with 60,000 crowds and expectations that their strikers never miss, they are a lot worse
Idah has handled the pressure well, but not every player welcomes it year on year
Would be expensive though, if, as suggested above, they actually don't want to sell

What's the score with this Nigerian playing in the MLS that we have been linked with, anything in it?

Looks like their fans don't rate him and talk of 200k being mentioned.

Taking it, Soumane from Lorient is no go?

4/5M being mentioned.

I saw this Scottish guy mentioned for us previously
Ahh there you go.. I do feel that we was never gonna please the whole fan base whatever the stiker. Even our main striker in Geubbels has had his injury issues and many flagged this for concern. As I said, anything is better than Cullen at the moment. Many will say we should hold out, but we can't go with Cullen, VP (only just finding his feet) and Wales unproven.

He seems to put himself about a bit and appears to be a handful. However, this is the Canadian Premier league we're talking about.

Cheap though, at less than 400K

Whoever started the wow rumour on here, we have certainly run with it for most of the summer, saying we're aiming high for a statement striker.
Whether or not that was Geubbels, he says it wasn't - who knows.
It's obvious that it's fallen through through, so now we're looking for alternatives.

Don't think because he's a £9m player he's bound to be decent, we paid close to double that for Clucas.
Fair point, but writing him off before he’s even signed when you look at some players we’ve signed previously with underwhelming records only to become good here.
