• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I said before that this supposed wow striker has been hyped up so much, whoever come sin (if anyone) would be an anti climax.
The names being banded around certainly aren't that inspiring, but if the club believe they're better than what we have, then I'll back them.

I’m not so down on the Idah deal to be honest. Initially was very good at Celtic but the pressure of being a 9 there is constant. He just won’t be under the same spotlight here. Can see him fitting in well and he’s the kind of all round striker we don’t have.

I'd be happy with Idah, he's not perfect and will miss some chances, but he's got a big frame, is able to hold the ball up and bring others into play and will score goals if playing consistently up top.

My doubts on the deal are on it's feasibility. Will Celtic be prepared to lose half their money on him, in just one year, and given the pressure the board are under will a public loss of that amount put more pressure on their board? As well as this they also need to sign players themselves anyway in attacking areas, and you'd have thought they may feel they need to sign someone before letting him go.
Looking at some Reddit posts from Celtic fans, it looks like he's past the point of no return with the club. Think they want him gone at basically any cost, so we should bag him for a couple of mil

It would be pretty ignorant of someone working in the club if they didn't have their ear to the ground and know the players in the club, irrelevant of them coming in contact. I'm not saying that the office manager has to know the delivery mans name, but I'm sure the manager knows the delivery service that is being used 🤣🤣🤣. Crazy Comparison I know 🤣🤣
Knowing of somebody and claiming you can get the best out of them are completely different things.

O Dea will have seen him close hand and know what he’s all about, he’s a player that cost 9 million, sometimes players need a different home to succeed it’s not like we’re buying a complete unknown.

It's not as if O'Dea has said this Idah lad who was at Celtic with him is worth a shout and the club have decided to sign him based that alone.

The most involvement he will have had is either suggesting Swansea take a look at him, which they would then have done in detail, or they were already looking at him and asked O'Dea for his opinion given his insider knowledge.

Even if there was a wow signing being lined up, it had clearly fallen through weeks ago when nothing materialised in the succeeding weeks. You can't magic another such player out of nowhere so if you hadn't readjusted your expectations then that's on you

Shame though. We're a top striker short of having a very useful team in my estimation

In yet another change of heart, I now worry that Idah is too similar to Vipotnik. He seems to be a decent finisher, if little else, offering a bit of height. Is that not exactly the problem we have with Vip?

I get your points though. But VP switches off when ball comes across to him. And simple tap in. I just hope this is not a Yates type of signing.

I think the statements about a 'wow' signing came from the main man on the other site, who no doubt got it from someone allegedly 'in the know'.
Always amazes me how those among us with all embracing insight into players around the world can't wait to rubbish players whose names appear ,generally I suspect ,without seeing the player kick a ball.I find myself in that position of ignorance, so tend to hold my tongue.
I have to admit that I did once have a few lines printed in the Evening Post with negative comments about the bad habits within the Swans midfield of the time, which in my opinion wasn't performing competively enough.Of course in those days your name and part of your address was published with you letter so one ran the risk of running into Herbie or Geoff Thomas in town, quite different to now .
At the moment judging by the recent signings those at the Club seem to know their business and I'm hopeful that any further signings will be improvements for the squad./
