A left back by trade, considering we still need a centre half, right back cover and a centre forward and are well stocked in left back with Bidwell and Manning for the time being colour me unconvinced on this one.

My mate listens to Radio Wales commentary throughout the game and said that they claimed we were signing Ben Davies former Preston player on loan from Liverpool but the only report i can find is in the Sun which says that Davies is going to Sheffield, he may have misheard.

Ben Davies is heading to Sheffield United on loan for the season — without starting a game at Liverpool.

The centre-half, 26, has been cleared to join the Blades, who have chased him for weeks, as SunSport first revealed.

There are also a couple of reports claiming Bidwell is being sold to Middlesbrough and we getting a loan left back from Sheffield, i cannot see us letting Bidwell go unless huge money is involved.

Bidwell could be leaving.

Bonkers money!

He's 23 and scored 30 goals for Chelsea over the past 2 seasons, despite not playing as much last season. Not all that bonkers in the context of a ridiculously inflated market. Arsenal paid £50m for Ben White for example.

No doubt Lukaku is a better player than Abraham, but he's 28 and Chelsea paid almost 3 times as much for him. He scored 28 league goals in his last 2 PL seasons, that's only 7 more than Tammy managed.

British players don't have a great track record in Italy, but he's got a chance to do well out there and good on him for giving it a go.

So with 8 days to go and us seemingly still after a cb and a striker (though most fans agreeing a number 10 is probably more needed) what rumours are currently circulating?

I can only see Max Lowe and Molumby (lb and cm) which look like theyd be replacements should Bidwell and Grimes leave

Wales online are saying Martin is hoping for 2 signings, I expect a couple more than that to be honest, our shopping will be up until the end of the window.

the lack of links is concerning. I'd say 2 in is about right provided (a) we don't lose anyone and (b) they are forward options.

Smith and Walsh to come back in midfield

Bennett, Roberts and Naughton to come back in defence. Laird can play RCB and Manning has proved he can fill in well at LCB so I don't think we need another centre back.

Full strength I'd go with:

Benda

Laird/Naughton Bennett Cooper

Roberts/Laird Grimes Downes Manning

Paterson New

Piroe

Is Shankland injured ?, edit - too late apparently he has gone to Belgium.

Well Russ was going on about Manning being Pele the other day, actually better, as he is brilliant in every position. So unless he's lying through his teeth, I think he's in the front of the queue. Oh, hang on, he is lying through his teeth isn't he? Rasm Fasm Dick Dastardley.

A guy on Football365 has done a piece on one signing every Championship club needs to make this week. Here's a link to the second part of it which we're in if you're interested

Here's his entry for the Swans if you'd rather not look through the whole thing:

Swansea City – an upgrade on Steven Benda
To pay German goalkeeper Steven Benda his dues, almost any shot-stopper that Swansea could get their hands on would have seemed underwhelming compared to Golden Glove winner Freddie Woodman, whose personally successful two-season loan stint at the Liberty Stadium ended without club success after two straight failed play-off campaigns.

As with Sheffield United, Walton would make keep most efforts out but is less good with his feet than Benda, although perhaps more importantly, even for a Russell Martin side, he is not an absolute calamity with his hands.

In truth, though, many keepers in the Championship and even League One fit the billing of being a better, more competent keeper than Benda.

For me, that's what just looking at the stats gets you. You see Woodman had the Golden Glove, but don't see that he mainly got it because of a good defence in a very defence minded team. No one who watched the majority of games would claim he was the best keeper in the division last season (Arsenal could surely have got him for less than £24m after all) and I've not seen any Swans fans wishing he was back here at Benda's expense.

Martin remains eager to add to his squad in the coming days, while some fringe players could yet depart on loan.

The head coach - who revealed the club are yet to receive any bids for their players - believes Swansea have several days of "chaos" ahead of them in the transfer market as sides scramble to add their squad.

We're going to be working hard, and hopefully we'll have something to announce by the end of it," he added.

"The guys just need a little bit of help in a few areas. We've been working really hard to try and add people so we'll just have to wait and see.

"I know a couple of positions I'd like to add some quality in but I'll tell you if I'm happy after Tuesday.

Things change very quickly in the transfer window. We have three days of chaos I'm sure in a market that's been really slow and will probably come to life.

"But we're ready for any bids for our players and we're also ready to go with ones we're looking to add."

Take offers for Bidwell, Lowe (over £4m), Dhanda for starters!
