We've had enough games under Sheehan now to know what we are going to get. There isn't going to be any overnight transformation. I hate comparing to the past, but you could see pretty much straight away the playing styles of Martinez/Rodgers and Laudrup and the buzz they generated. I can't help but find us still boring to watch, I find our style of play very basic compared to the names mentioned above.
Well that might be a bit early to say - at Sheff Weds we showed some fast moving play on the break and it could have been 4-0 to us.

What drove me mad on Saturday was taking off our key midfielder Yalcouye who was keeping them at bay and Inoussa our only player that can unlock a defence and provide the killer assist.

Taking those two off and chucking on Cullen out of position and the highly ineffective Eom on the left wing surrendered two points to Hull. And it could have been worse!

The subs were terrible and all down to Alan Sheehan - a serious misjudgment.

I never bought the "tough start" nonsense. This was declared before a ball was kicked and the Championship's overwhelming characteristic is being unpredictable.
The average position of the 5 teams we've played so far is 17th and, apart from Middlesbrough, the other 4 teams have won 2 out of 20 games.
By that logic we still don’t really know if it was a tough start or not. We will have a better idea at Christmas

Which feels like the kind of thing we should be saying if we were in the bottom half of the table right now.

While we're actually 7th and were 2 shit refereeing decisions (the amount of added on time and not giving a freekick for the foul on Ronald) away from being in the playoff places.
And not sending off the Hull player who went in studs up on Franco. We’d have smashed them with them being a man down.

That challenge was just one of many that referee Webb failed to give while the blatant shirt pull on Ronald in injury time turned the game and led to Hull's equaliser.

Sheahan is the ultimate backstop when it comes to criticism but for me the enormous change in the squad need time to gel, certain players need to reach match fitness and while 7th position in the league is fine at the moment the testing time will be when the real treadmill of Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday bite into the squad's fitness levels

The Sheff Weds match was like walking football, no tempo to the game and plus they are nailed on for bottom of the league.

Hull would still have attacked at will whoever we had on the pitch because our mindset changed to hanging on to the lead after we scored. Hull were unluckly not score 4 or 5.

A fair few posters here are now cottoning on to Sheehan's limitations and the effect this is having on our playing style.

A team dances to the tune of the Manager, plays in the style of his character.

Our play is boring, pedestrian, predictable, uninspiring, Vanilla. It's the play of a simple #2, a manager's assistant.

From what I can tell there's clearly a theme amongst our online fans, a common thread with those that blindly support Sheehan - their posts are typically uninspiring, utterly predictable, drab. Vanilla Sheeple.

Our play wasn’t boring under Sheehan last season, not possession based per se but it wasn’t unentertaining to watch in my opinion. We’ve not been boring this season either, we’re not struggling to move the ball, or to compete in games, we’re just a bit reticent in the final third at the moment. I’d expect that to improve as we go along. It’s clear Sheehan and the coaches have had a positive influence on both Ronald and Vipotnik, just look at how they’ve started.

I was the first to bring up our poor XG the other day, we are struggling to create but like some other posters have said, there are lots of new players and we have a lot of room to improve. Let’s give this relatively new manager and his coaches the time to build something.

Some of the games under Sheehan last season definitely were boring. Think back , away games at Preston and Watford were dire, as were home games against Derby ,and when we rolled over against Burnley without laying a glove on them. To say everything has been good since he took over is well wide of the mark. He's done a good job points wise, but his style of football so far has been very hit and miss.

Fair play I admire your dedication to winding people up on a football forum, even if it is a little odd.

I notice you've changed your narrative. This team last season Sheehan was firmly head of the quorum.

When he came in last season the most important thing was to get points on the board asap. It was more substance over style. He achieved that rather effortlessly.

First half against Watford they out muscled us in every department. The second half we tore them apart and that was due to the manager and his ability to influence a game.

We can't play like ninety seventies Brazil over night. A little patience and perspective is needed five games in to a season with a brand new team.

I'm in the same camp as you. I actually enjoy watching us play, again.
