Honestly tonight it doesn’t matter if we were awful or not. Tonight we were the team that went out to play football, we were the team that wanted it more and we were the team that deserved the win. It was a bloody fantastic night under the lights and that’s all that matters.
Agreed with everything. But on this occasion and all respect to Andrew, we was not awful. How he thought that confuses me. But we all see things differently 👓👓👓

We were. We were bloody awful. Once again our wingers couldn't cross. Franco couldn't do simple 10 yard passes for the vast majority of the match.

The reason we won is we just worked harder than them and won more 50/50s.

I was shocked at how bad they actually were. I mean I knew they were one dimensional before the game, but to actually witness how shite they are, despite the tens of millions lavished on that side, it was quite something to behold.

We 100% deserved to win but let's not kid ourselves it was some sort of wonderful achievement. Pound for pound they're the worst side I've seen down here this season.
I would differentiate between the play in terms of team shape, formation, intent, style and individual errors.

I thought the team shape, intent, style, pace etc was a little better (as it has been for a few games),
Individuals within the team are not good enough particularly if hurried and make errors. Franco you’ve mentioned, Ronald in the first half, Inoussa for most of the first half and in the early second half, Vipotnik on a number of occasions - passing was reminiscent of Renato Sanches passing to the advertising hoardings.

I thought Galbraith had his best game for us tonight so would keep him as right back. Stamenic played well. Widell did well. Inoussa and Ronald in the second half were better. Fulton and Eom did well when they came on. Yalcouye did well when he came on. And Cabango had a stormer I thought.
Vipotnik was ok. Idah did nothing until his worldie. Cullen should have scored and did little else.
I think we are still light up front and at 10. Plus we need an extra winger and get rid of Benson.
Midfield is ok - we should play Yalcouye instead of Franco.

I thought they were awful in terms of style but a handful and they will make it hard for teams.

I’m glad you mentioned Yalcouye, Quite enjoyed him coming back!! I thought he did a really good job, and should definitely be starting next game.

I think it's the last time we will see Benson. Matos doesn't seem to impressed based on his previous press comments. And he has shown nothing. I would give Franco a rest to see what Yalcouye could do.

They pressed us very well. That was just about their entire focus. We never really got to grips with it. When we did play through them we looked promising. I love the shoot first ask questions later approach. There were a couple that looked on their way until they smacked the defender, and of course Vipotnik goal. Shoot and you might get lucky.
There is definitely a running theme in all of Matos's games so far where we are trying to shoot more. I like that, if only for the reason that he's clearly not beholden to some geek with a laptop somewhere telling him to tell his players not to shoot "from there" because they only have a 3.2% chance of scoring.

In fact it fills me with great joy that it appears we might have a coach on our hands who resembles a normal human being who is happy to work at least partly on vibes, and not some stats obsessed robot only concerned with winning possession battles. More please.

I think he’s a very promising player. His ability to turn and drive is better than most.

I think Franco should be on the bench and have Yalcouye start next game. Despite the crowd love of Franco I’m not sure he’s really adding much drive to the midfield. And his face holding antics tonight are more than enough reason to give him a rest. I hate to see that even from our players. Actually, especially from our players.

We were awful, on the ball.

Off the ball, I loved the performance. We were first to every 50/50, we ran harder than them, we pressed better than them, we basically wanted it more than them. I absolutely loved all of that.

If we can add top quality on top of that attitude, the sky is the limit. But we lack quality - at the moment.

Let's hope January can sort that out a bit.

Couldn't agree more re Franco.

He may have been a cult hero last season but I think we're already starting to outgrow him. Very good at winning the ball back, but on the ball he is too often really sloppy. I don't think our best midfield has him in it. Not long term anyway.
