Hes not being introduced bit by bit anymore though. He was before the Preston game but after that Matos has lost all faith in him.

Why has he lost faith?!

He didn't use him from the bench for a couple of games, maybe Matos feels he's not quite ready to be starting games just yet and those games against Stoke and Portsmouth he felt there were better options than Walta.

To me Walta looks like he's got a lot of skill, but he has to be utilised correctly and from what little I see is that he's a true No 10. In time I think we shall see Galbraith / Franco / Walta (although that is a vertically challenged trio).

A realisation that he’s not yet fit enough/up to speed with the league. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t rate him. He was always going to be next season’s player. Widdell concerns me more…he really does remind me of Oliver Cooper. He’s still finding his feet too, so again next season is the acid test. We have too many samey midfielders.

I don’t disagree with this…but…and it’s a huge but…we have no evidence that anyone currently in the squad (individually or collectively) would get anywhere near replacing those goals (see also the 2 years after Piroe left)

Idah may come good, as well as some of this seasons signings but it’s always a big gamble selling a 20 goal striker at this level. In saying that I’ve no doubt we’d accept an offer of £12-15m

Honestly have no idea why anyone would want to sell our top goal scorer.

We need a squad of players to be competitive next season.

Using your logic the longer he is here the more ready he will be to play? So if that is the case why has only played him for 25mins in the 4 games since PNE compared to the 55 minutes in the 3 before that?

Honestly have no idea why anyone would want to sell our top goal scorer.

We need a squad of players to be competitive next season.

Not sure if anyone wants to sell him? I certainly don’t but I’d be surprised if we turned down a significant fee for any of our players - which is the case for 99% of football clubs.

The question for the decision makers is whether selling 1 to bring in 3/4 makes us more or less likely to make the top 8 next season.

Fair point, although I’d rather be in a position where we’ve got players who are worth a significant fee as opposed to worrying about how to offload players with no value.

Take it as a positive that we’re weighing up whether £15m is worth cashing in and reinvesting elsewhere.
