• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Im actually a supporter of it. Rodgers and Laudrup had great success signing players they knew. But they weren't assistant managers and the signings not as expensive as Idah! Which is mad really.

Laudrup didn’t sign anyone, his agent did. Bayram Tutumlu, and yes players certainly within that cost zone. It’s football.

I don’t think there is anything to learn, managers will ultimately have the power to sign a player they know. This will always be the case, including this summer I’m sure. I personally don’t like it either, but that’s football.
Less power than even 5-10 years ago though in fairness.

I have no doubt that O’Dea played a big part in the signing having worked with him before, but I’d be surprised (and a little concerned) if he was signed without the recruitment team/CEO/board doing their own due diligence before forking out the amount we did.

And also didn't have this analytical recruitment set up at the club.

Can’t keep repeating, every club, every manager, every division will have managers making signings from their former clubs. So much so when Rodgers went to Liverpool didn’t we try and put a clause in that he couldn’t take Joe Allen because we knew we would! I am damn sure Liverpool had an analytical department.

Shall we put this to bed!?

And TJ, if you are who its being suggested you are.......take a step back and I mean that sincerely 👍

Trucker jack!
Bolloxs, this goes back to when we signed Adam Idah, some "outlets" itk types were saying it was an O'Dea signing, the very same that were saying the players hated training because of O'Dea's relentless flogging of players program based on his Gaelic football upbringing. Utter, Utter bolloxs.

Liverpool had the luxury of being able to spend that sort of money backing a successful manager. A struggling championship club shouldn't be doing similar with an assistant manager who's soon be sacked.

As I say, a time and a place, under the correct circumstances.

“It was me that bought him at Swansea. I don’t know if I’ve told this story.

“He got taken off at half-time against Kairat Almaty, and I sent a text at half-time to say: ‘I don’t know if this is being a bit cheeky, but I’ll ask the question’.

“But yeah, it grew arms and legs from there. There was a lot that happened in the few weeks between and then and before the deal got concluded, but I was very much at the forefront of it.”

Here is the post Swanjaxs
