Colours Nailed and all that

They are not clear at all, only in your head. Darren O’Dea signed him, why would I have a vested interest in protecting him when he isn’t even at the club. Your odd point doesn’t even make any sense.

So our previous assistant manager had sole power to sign players that have reported to have cost multiple millions? The recruitment team had no input?

What odd point?

If the club allowed Darren O’Dea to sign our most expensive signing of the window and arguably the most crucial, that’s a sign of utter incompetence and someone should be sacked (along with O’Dea).

But it’s simply not true.

What may well be true is that after a window of being turned down by a few identified targets, we were panicking right at the end and O’Dea said ‘what about Idah he’s a good player and good bloke’ and facilitated the discussions.

That’s not ‘O’Dea signing him’.

He literally said it.

“It was me that brought him to Swansea, I was at the forefront of it”.

If a management team want a player then they will get him. I don’t think that’s has ever not been the case in football.

I don’t believe they did, no. Managers bring players from their old clubs who they worked with, trust and know. O’Dea has been open about him being the one to bring him to the club.

Adam Idah will be an asset when fit, I wouldn't have paid over the odds for him like we did, but that's not his fault. How do I know, because I've seen him bang goals in for fun when he was given a decent run of games. Keep on churning out your xG bolloxs though dinner lady 👍

Absolutely, whoever at the club sanctioned the signing deserves the criticism not the player (unless hes not trying - which has been levelled at him). If it turns out to be a successful signing I'll be the first to congratulate the recruitment team.

“It was me that bought him at Swansea. I don’t know if I’ve told this story.

“He got taken off at half-time against Kairat Almaty, and I sent a text at half-time to say: ‘I don’t know if this is being a bit cheeky, but I’ll ask the question’.

“But yeah, it grew arms and legs from there. There was a lot that happened in the few weeks between and then and before the deal got concluded, but I was very much at the forefront of it.”

Well if they didn't thats a major failing in the recruitment process at the club then is it not? Having invested heavily in scouts and analysts, reportedly on the verge of making worth a director, but our most expensive signing in years was instigated by the assistant manager?

To allow a manager to sign a player that they have worked with is not something new. Not sure why you are pretending it is.

Alternatively, whoever sanctioned the signing of Adam Idah could turn out to be an absolute genius, our next big money export? Zan Vipotnik was being written off this time last year remember...

Its not new, doesn't mean it was the correct thing to do.

Why didn't the recruitment team identify him as a suitable signing?

Absolutely, read my comment saying ill the be first to congratulate them if it does turn out to be a success.

Listen I’ve got a great idea for recruiting the players required to play the football Matos wants.
We should send someone from the club down to Tenby for the Iron Man Wales competition and offer the top twenty finishers a contract, that’ll sort the stamina issues out.

I can’t answer that, but what I will say is managers will sign players that they have coached and trust + this will always be the case whether you agree with it or not. Matos will get some Liverpool/Salzburg players that he’s worked with too I would guess at some point.
