Why do you continually repeat such a pointless statistic?
In the seasons since the parachute payments ended we’ve finished 15th, 10th, 14th and 11th. Hardly setting the world alight.
As far as points are concerned, we’ve had 61, 66, 57, 61. We currently have 46. 46 with 11 games left.
So we need a point a game to match the worst points tally since we were relegated. 15 points from 11 to match the second worst we’ve had. And 20 points to match the ‘best season since parachute payments’.
We are highly unlikely to get 20 points from our remaining games.
Given 6 of the remaining games are away from home and we are also playing quite a few of the better teams, the 15 points may be difficult unless we significantly improve.
So repeatedly stating a statistic that will almost certainly change before the end of the season to justify how good we are is ridiculous.
For what it’s worth, imo our recruitment has been good in parts, average in parts and very disappointing in parts. It’s not only what we have recruited, it’s what we haven’t. And whether we’ve recruited appropriately to give us a team rather than to give us players who will have resale value.
Not getting in a forward in January and letting Wales go out on loan was stupid as an example. It’s left us with no option other than to run Vipotnik into the ground. Or play Cullen as a lone striker to rest Vipotnik when it quite obviously doesn’t work.
Recruiting Ward was pointless. Burgess is ok but isn’t the best fit for Cabango. Winger recruitment can be summed us by us playing Ronald as a starter virtually every game. Usually with Eom. Idah we don’t know yet. Widell shows promise but seems to achieve little. Same with Yalcouye.
Stamenic and Galbraith have been good. Albeit Galbraith at right back isn’t working angainst any team that is any good. Largely because Cabango and Burgess are not Matip and Van Dijk.
