Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper gave a damning assessment of his gameplan in the 5-1 hammering of the Swans this afternoon. Forest dominated all parts of the game except for the possession stats but Cooper says that he was happy to see that because of the amount of chances Russell Martin’s team...

Well I guess he will have enjoyed that and it’s difficult to blame him twisting the knife a little to be honest.

Anyone else find it a bit of a wrench seeing Tate?

Yeah it is. Can't fault him though for going on to better himself after being binned to the loan manager role (if my memory serves me right) by Martin when he arrived.

It reads of a sad bitter man, to me.

I’d bet quite a lot of money on him being a Premier League manager in a few weeks. With all the riches that will bring him. Why on Earth should he be sad and bitter?

He’s mocking the prioritisation of possession and the so called ‘Swansea Way’ over results that saw him shown the door.

Well. its sounds like he's bitter towards Swansea City then with the wording of that article, after his experience here at the end. perhaps I should have explained it better

Oh, I think he’s rubbing salt in the wounds. No doubt. I think he’s mocking the ethos.

Cooper has achieved more in his short managerial career, than I suspect Russell will achieve in all of his career.

Well there's no guarantee that he's going to be in the PL next season; his track record in the play offs is not great is it ?

He may have a better, more physical squad this time around and therefore more chance of getting over the line. He desperately needs to win against Bournemouth on Tuesday, otherwise he is going to have to deal with the street-wise, resurgent Sheffield United in the play offs.

His playing through the lines as quickly as possible (i.e., boot the ball forward to a player with pace and hope for the best) is hardly Guardiola-esque and when up against a decent defensive outfit his tactics don't work so well. Fair play to him, he's succeeded in getting to the play offs again (as a minimum) this season, although in a league that has been of hugely inferior quality to previous seasons. His lowest common denominator style of tactics just bores the crap out of me I'm afraid and would prefer to see more innovative managers succeed in the game (and not necessarily RM). Cooper is the new age breed of dinosaur a la Sam Allardyce.

BTW, I do have a reasonable amount of money on Forest being promoted because I think he may luck out
this time :D

The thing is though that he is another in a list of managers who have said the same. The truth is that the more of the ball we have the more critical mistakes we make

I couldn’t care less what Cooper says,we were embarrassed 5-1 and as far as I am concerned the people that can see what Martin is trying to do are watching different games to me.
Can anyone see any improvement after watching todays game because I certainly can’t.

Of course there was an improvement: possession up one percent.
