Avoid Tenby, so overrated and overwhelmed by visitors.
Try St David's, Solva, Broadhaven and Little Haven👍👍👍👍

Went shopping in Tenby on Saturday. Horrific. Kiln Park is a blight on that place. Still, if you end up there, go to Tap and Tan for food and some excellent beer.

If going to Pembs, go as far west or north as you can. Far fewer people.

Edit - Speaking of understaffing, it's a real issue in Pembrokeshire, although not quite as bad as last year. Pretty much every cafe has a vacancy advert in the window. Our eldest is making an absolute fortune working in one of the pubs down there during his summer break, but he's lucky he has somewhere to stay. Anyone who will do those jobs simply can't afford to live there.

I had a week in a rental property in Saundersfoot at the start of July. Up on the hill with an amazing view of the beach and sea, but close enough to walk down to the centre in less than 10 minutes (walk back up the hill was a good workout though!).

I've been to Saundersfoot plenty of times before, but being there for the whole week has me fully onboard with the place. Offers everything I want in a seaside resort without the overwhelming crowds and tat that Tenby has in spades. Plenty of good places to eat and drink, cracking beach, paddle boarding lessons, walks along the coast, easy to drive to rest of Pembs...

I was there before the school holidays so it's probably a lot busier right now, but definitely top of my list in Pembrokeshire at the moment.

Only thing this has to do with brexit is that the process is slower due to passport checks etc rather than being waved through. Fair enough.

But much like the problems at airports, there are serious staff shortages and demand has been significantly higher than the ability of the airport/port authorities to handle given staffing issues and likely poor planning by those in charge.

Not sure whether the high demand should have come as much of a surprise mind given there are only limited spaces on boats and planes.

Ssh. It's already busy enough without you bigging it up. ;)

That's exactly the same Simon Calder clip I posted yesterday Darran, so technically, yours is a Ferdy!

Do keep up young man!
Thats the same guy on with Eamon this morning saying that there was staffing issues, before going on to say about the checks taking longer.

Staffing issues were down to the French getting stuck in traffic between Folkestone snd Dover.😂😂😂. It’s cos of queues see, cos of Brexit. Now please at least try to keep up.

They could cure those staffing issues easily by getting some willing, cheap labour from Eastern Eorope.

Oh, hang on...

Downing Street now complaining the French are taking an over zealous approach by inspecting and staking every passport, I though that was what was supposed to happen when a foreign national rocked up at the border and wanted to enter - I mean how else are you supposed to enforce visa and entry requirements. Sound like the French have taken control of their borders! Meanwhile back in Blighty, it seems we don’t take control and don’t routinely stamp passports, it’s all done via “risk management” - some passports are stamped and others aren’t. So, it’s possible we have no record of overstayers etc.
So it looks like we haven't taken control of our borders which, for many was a big driver for Brexit, while our politicians are criticising the French for doing what they should be doing.

It seems the French border police were caught in the traffic having used the Euro tunnel, but it also seems that our Government has made significant mistakes including rejecting a grant funding application to improve Dover Port infrastructure.

The roads and infrastructure are all designed for no passport checks. If, by our own insistence, there are now passport checks it's a bit rich to blame anyone else. Planning isn't a strength of this Government.

I'd feel sorry for the locals, but they voted for this shambles, both in terms of the referendum and in the general election.

Unfortunately facts don't care about feelings. We get what we deserve

Don't we just. Last night's TV debacle just goes to show how far we've fallen. I wasn't even surprised to hear the cheers in support for Johnson in that crowd. This isle is rotten.

I read a book last week, set in the near future. The UK had earned the nickname Hermit Island, and had mined the Channel to stop even humanitarian visits. Its economy had collapsed and there was so little work that many took the chance on working abroad in work camps with terrible conditions, yet still better than the UK. It seemed all too plausible.
