Has he gone? Or if not when will it happen?

The desperation by some online to have links with those ITK is always mildly amusing, especially when they back track at a rate of knots.

I can't see anything interesting coming from the press conference. The question will get asked and he'll answer it and the world will move on.
The thing is with all these "amateur journos", even a broken clock is right twice a day...

This for me sums up this whole avoidable scenario, to claim he had no inkling that this hullabaloo was going on all around him and a simple statement, a week ago, would have put all this all to bed, just makes him look stupid...

I get the feeling he's quite an emotional guy and often speaks without thinking which isn't great when you are in the public eye.

Lucky him. If he’d bumped into me I’d have told him my name was Swanjaxs and to get tae f**k

Come off it he was hoping his agent would secure the deal to go to West Brom, it hasn’t happened and now he’s happy to be here.
This is the truth, not the revisionism that he didn’t know or wasn’t taking it seriously. Some on here love to claim they were right all along at the end. He would have gone like a shot had it been offered and ‘they can talk to my agent’ was a clear begging plea. Just because they turned out not to be interested, means he now has to totally reverse out and lick arse. The only reason it’s a nothing burger is West Brom don’t want him.

"It can create uncertainty, can't it? I think people feel more comfortable when they have clarity. But I don't think that's got anything to do with today."

Doesn't exactly stack up with him saying he was treating it as a "wind up".

And I guess we'll ignore WBA sources (who everyone was happy to believe when it was stated that they weren't interested) stating that it was agent driven?

The guy for whatever reason wanted to go there and it backfired. And is now playing dumb.

Anyone to think otherwise is stupid, no way an agent will go and speak to clubs without running it by Williams himself, he’s been told what to say today to keep it level headed for now, but either way if it’s in the next few weeks or end of season I think he’s done for.

It really didn’t matter to some what he said today did it? A fair few painted themselves into a corner through the course of yesterday and now refuse to backtrack. Thankfully the wider fan base probably doesn’t give two tiny shits about this week’s series of non events. Williams is guilty of making a daft, flippant remark after a terrible performance in Portsmouth. Nothing else from what I can see. And for the avoidance of doubt, if he had left I wouldn’t have cared either way. He’s not the messiah by any stretch. But we could certainly do without yet another change in manager.

Regardless of whether he was or wasn’t ever in the running for the WBA job, he’d better have us prepped correctly for tomorrow. There’s extra spice in this one.

Agree we could do without another change in manager and we are moving in the right direction with him, albeit at a snails pace.

The rumours yesterday by supposed ITKs are a red herring because I don't think most people would have begrudged him leaving. However, at the same time, I don't see how anyone could look at the way he dealt with the speculation (and I'm not talking about his comment that they wouldn't want him if they'd seen the Portsmouth game) and for it to inspire any confidence in him.

Even if the comments before today were just poorly thought out, it doesn't really do much to build any faith in his abilities, given the fact that most would agree that being good with words is a pretty key skill in any form of management.

I dare say you're right about most of the fanbase but at the same time I don't think it has done him any favours. He's obviously on relatively thin ice because when other managers have left for better jobs, there has been clamour to blame the owners, etc. I appreciate some of our owners are new but I haven't hear a single person point a finger at them when the opposite was true with Potter, Cooper and Russy...

And given the fact that the club will have (should have) someone appointed to lead organisation of outgoing comms. That person should have been all over this from the moment it got beyond Defcon 1.
