• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

There's a lot of old men doing the equivalent of shouting 'get off my lawn' in this thread.

I think bytholwyn has done a good job of explaining how they're used and I agree with how ARQS summarised it in his post above. They're an important part of scouting players these days, but it's only a part of the process.

Bradley starting and the new Danish CB signing on the bench. Looks as if they've already moved on.

Mind you Preston have already signed Lewis Gibson from Plymouth Argyle, so I'd be surprised if they were to be serious contenders for Low as well. Plymouth are likely to be serious, but I can't see Low preferring them over us, given their precarious position.

Also I can see a bid coming in for Darling before the window closes, both Bristol City and Birmingham are meant to be interested and both going for promotion/play-offs, so signing Low would make sense in that respect.

If Darling were to leave I wonder if we might look to bring Norrington-Davies back to Swansea on a loan basis. Very much on the fringes with Sheffield United, unsurprisingly, given the form of Burrows. Can also play as a left back, so competition for Tymon.

Is he a free agent in the summer? We could bring Ben Davies, Connor Roberts & Norrington back on frees

Like Peter Taylor used to. He used to go back to Clough and say 'I've found one' and Clough used to go round their house, charm the family and refuse to leave until they sign.

I miss proper football.

Stats, my arse. Everyone has them and is a slave to them. This is how you miss the hidden gems.
Ronald is a prime example of this data driven recruitment.

If the lad had been thoroughly scouted would be sign him? I'm not so sure.

Feels like football is losing it's soul, too much money involved and connection between the fans is slowly disappearing.

Not sure about that. The side Bloomfield has named looks very much like a second string line up. Maybe 3 names that start regularly in the league.

Even so, he's wasted no time in getting the two new centre backs involved. Surely Low would at least be on the bench (which is strong, including Kone) if he was going to be a part of their long term plans?

Yeah bench is strong, no Grimmer, but don't know if he's injured. So I think there's precedent for not including first teamers. Time will only tell.

As a gentle reminder to the luddites: (I'll keep on saying it til the penny drops for some)
- Stats should form part of the end of a conversation, not the beginning

e.g :

'Franco is a helluva player mind, look at his drive, commitment, positional sense, impact on those around him, oytstanding tekkers, warra proper warrior to boot. And the stats back that up.........oh and the stats was how we initially spotted, targeted and acquired him. That's how a world class global sourcing model works: '- stats - eyeball - stats'.'
