January Transfer Rumours

His recommendation of signing McLaughlin until the end of the season isn't strengthen his case for new players.
That should be the last we see of McLaughlin between the sticks, unless Vigouroux gets injured, the fact that it looks like he's going to be drawing thousands of more pounds in wages between now and the end of the season (on Williams recommendation) speaks volumes...

It is joke.

Add Cyrus Christie to the freeloading list as well.

Yep.

We have a cracking academy yet our management team would rather improve players for other clubs or sign journeymen players who are stealing a living.
True dat, and the depressing thing about all this is we'll end up with another couple of "desperation signings" come February 1st.

I think the appointment of Williams was a desperation signing. He was the lazy choice from the beginning with his links to us.

If we had the new ownership team in place at the time of Duffs sacking I do wonder if they would have appointed him.

After all if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

Agree, think Coleman especially felt pressured by the fans to get a Martin type manager back in asap, he wasn’t exactly pulling up trees in League 2 when we had him Notts County were what 6th? Have happily backed him but it’s getting worse and so predictable and nothings changing him and Martin have got to be the most stubborn managers around.

I think you're right.

I get the impression Williams isn't stubborn like Martin, he is just clueless and doesn't have a plan B or a plan A.

Williams is doing better than Martin. Russy delivered worse form and performances than this over a longer period with much better players. LW does however represent more of the same tedious modern coaching style and was absolutely a panic appointment in reaction to the criticism of Duff.

Coleman needs to block out the opinions of supporters when he makes the next choice. He absolutely needs to block out the opinions of "senior" players.

And it would help if he didn't buy in to this "Swansea Way" bollocks.

I swear there are people out there in our fanbase convinced that the way we play is the only way to play passing football. The bloke in front of me at the stadium seemed to think that we had no option other than to tediously recycle possession from flank to flank because "That's how we play" during the WBA game.

We had a robust debate.

We've been dull as ditchwater to watch for probably not far off a decade now. Starting with Monk's vandalism in the Prem. There have been vague flashes of improvement here and there in the interim, but probably since Cooper it's been almost wall to wall tedium.

It's a narrative created by the media during our Prem days.

If there was a Swansea Way it was because how we operated off the pitch.

Not just the media. Plenty of our supporters believe it too. Believe that we're somehow a special case, a club held in high regard because of the way we play. And some people think Cardiff are the only arrogant ones...

I'd settle for 55% possession and only 75% completed passes if it meant a bit of excitement on the pitch. Grimes racking up 90%+ completion of passes that don't create anything and that opponents deal with easily isn't going to cut it any more.
