January Transfer Rumours

Perhaps it's a ploy to persuade Wycombe to shift on their price.

I mean would you send Luke to Netherlands? He'd probably come back with a Dutch hybrid of Jay Fulton.

It delivers the same thing either way.
Not really, the way he handled it it came across as if he's not in the loop with what's going on. If he'd batted it away and said he wasn't going to talk about it then it's dealt with and stops follow up questions. He's not the best at speaking publicly, as we saw with the whole West Brom fiasco blowing up

I didn't see an issue with his response.

I understand that people are now going to pick up on everything since the WBA situation but I think sometimes people just go over the top with these things.

Just my view.

Fair enough.

I just think there have been a few examples now of him showing naivety/coming across poorly in interviews.

He said Rushworth was coming back again this season, he spoke about not going into the dressing room for the QPR game as if it was a good thing, he joked about the West Brom situation instead of saying he was committed to Swansea and now he's said he doesn't know what's happening with transfers.

Whilst the comments in the press conference may have been him attempting to not give too much away, I think it was the latest example of him maybe needing to be a bit more self aware when he has a microphone in front of him

And of those 4 players (you can add in Ben Lloyd) they have a total of 0 minutes of senior football this mid table season (albeit there have been injury issues). Does my head in.

I agree with this. For those who have returned from injury, they should either be getting first team opportunities in the second half of the season or loaned out to get some experience.

Congreve may not have a future here, but he's only turning 21 this month and is playing regularly in League 2. Whoever the new manager is come the summer (I can't see Williams still being here past the end of the season unless something dramatically changes) can have a good look at him and see if he's developed enough to be in the first team.

We all love to see academy players given a chance but the reality is that the step up to Championship level from academy football is enormous. The best way to gauge the readiness of our players is how well our loanees do. Cotterrill and Congreve have done OK at League two level, but nothing exceptional. Josh Thomas has barely featured at all at Bromley.

The fact that Abdulai, Govea and Parker have all been given opportunities shows we are willing to give our prospects a chance, but of the three only Parker looks as if he could start on a regular basis in the near future. The fact that he's been given opportunities at such a young age shows that if there is enough talent we will give chances. It's a shame that Wilson and Lissah have been injured because they seem to be the next in line. But our academy prospects need to earn their chance. Throwing them in before they're ready is in no one's interests.

Hull have bid £1.5 million for Joseph, and it's thought £2 million may be needed to seal the deal. I wonder if we get a percentage of any sale?

I'm surprised at the amount as he's done quite well, but nothing spectacular.

Shocked didn’t think it would be that high, we used him as part of the Yates deal so hopefully we included a sell on fee.

The step up maybe big, but you never know how they'll perform until you try them. Ben Davies springs to mind. I was impressed with Govea last season so I hope he's given s chance when he's fit.

Performance on loan should be a good gauge, but we've had many great players who did poorly in loan spells. Rodon, James, Roberts etc.

Joseph and Whittaker both turned out to be decent players then.
Mark Allen signings?
