January Transfer Rumours

Wasn't a part of the breakdown between the club and Laudrup that his agent wanted to sell Williams for like £20m and Huw refused to allow it?

Which was £10m more than we eventually sold him for.

As much as people rage against Kaplan and Levien for our downfall (and they do play a part), Jenkins thinking he was remotely capable of acting as both Chairman and DoF was a much bigger problem.

J_B has the truth of it.

Big test for the owners if we get out bit on Joe Low.

Especially if it's Plymouth bottom of the league without a Manager.

Have a feeling this will be a very quiet window across the board.
Think we may well only act to counter any departures.

Also, Plymouth have just signed a very good player in Michael Baidoo, breaking their transfer record in the process.

Yes, as I understand it that was the case. He also wanted to replace Ash with a Dutch U21 international for a fraction of the £20M.
The young Dutch man was Virgil van Dijk.
I know that many have accused Laudrup in the past of being a "drifter" when it came to his career as a manager, I don't think he ever spent more than 2 seasons at any one club besides his very first gig at Brondby.

There were also many who vilified Tutumlu and how much truth there was in the rumours of a clause in Laudrup's contract where Tutumlu would earn a % of profits on player sales was never activated but the truth is that Laudrup and Tutumlu had an incredible eye for talent and a significant amount of the players that they brought in were hits compared to misses.

Chico Flores, De Guzman, Bony (1st period with us), Michu were all hugely successful with only a couple of misses in his 18 months or so at the club.

Compare that to after he left and perhaps one player in ten that we signed has been a gem that when sold would barely cover the losses incurred on the others...

Not heard that one.

I thought it was more of a power struggle between Huwbert and the agent wanting more involvement with transfers.

Huw wouldn't give him the login details for his football manager account on the works laptop.
The Swans cut all ties with Tutumlu in June 2013, external following concerns he was trying to dictate transfer policy, with the club perturbed by his attempt to sell then-captain Ashley Williams without the board's consent.

I know we’re moving away from being dependent on loans, but one I’d be looking at is Andy Irving from West Ham. If potter gets the job hopefully we can get him in. A good physical profile with decent goals and assist record from CM and CAM

Some very impressive stats across the board in the Austrian top flight over two seasons.
