Martin holds the exit door open for Obafemi and Paterson

So we can't count Ogbeta because he doesn't fit the narrative. Given the generally shite standard of his crossing today perhaps Manning should be under threat of displacement. Can we count Whittaker who scored a hat trick and was then completely dropped and sent on loan?

Oba has been in and out of the team. Not easy for a striker to build form when he has absolutely no idea if his manager will drop him just for the lulz next game. No doubt he'd have been dropped for putting in the kind of performance Piroe did today. Piroe won't be.

The boy literally put on his social media accounts “money comes first”, he doesn’t want to be here. Move him on and get whatever we can. Two managers in a row now have questioned his professionalism publicly.

He's a wrong un, sooner he's someone else's problem the better, fuk him 🖕

You can't count Ogbeta because it doesn't suit the reality. There is no narrative. I like Whittaker and hope he gets brought back but at the time was he really worthy of a starting place? Sounds like you're the one looking for a narrative.

If he had been consistently good, he wouldn't have been in and out of the team. Are you saying that the mantra you're placing on Manning (wrongly) doesn't apply to Obafemi and he should play every game despite not being on form?

With Piroe I agree (although you forget Martin didn't play him when he first joined so he's also not immune), he ideally would have come off today but we have so little options available partly due to Obafemi being a fool I understand him staying on.

Paterson, Obafemi and Piroe are all out of contract in June 2024. I’d be surprised if any of them stayed in the event of a decent offer coming in as I suspect the club would rather cash in now than have a situation where they start to run their contracts down over the summer. If Martin is holding the door open, then for them to leave there has to be a suitor - are Obafemi and Paterson likely to be attractive to other clubs at this moment in time? All are talented players, but they have to want to be at a club and be seen to give 100% otherwise suitors may be put off. I’ve no idea what’s going on behind the scenes and who’s doing what and who’s not doing etc etc, but it would be in everyone’s best interest to get matters sorted sooner rather than later.

Oh Sweet Summer Child...

The facts speak for themselves. He's been inconsistent and well below par all season (including during prolonged runs in the team).

So have a number of others but they haven’t been totally frozen out

Exactly, says to me (along with his previous history of similar antics) that this is obviously more than poor form and that he is acting like a clown in training as Martin has alluded to.

If there is petulance, stroppiness and childish antics from Oba, then we shouldn’t be surprised that Martin is freezing him out. You all know the saying about the bad apple in the bunch. It’s almost certainly irreparable so time for all parties to move on.

The only other ones besides these two clowns were really were Fulton and Bennett and reading between the lines those two were very similar circumstances to what Cooper had to do with Routledge - financial decisions. You can't really count Ogbeta because we have no idea if he's any good and we don't need to displace Manning anyway.

Obafemi's done a fair bit wrong on the pitch in fairness. He has not had a good season. 3 goals for a player of his undoubted ability is a poor return. And he's had the chances.

Makes his strops look even more pathetic. Could half understand if there were clubs banging on the door willing to pay big money for him.

And Congreve.

And Bradley Cooper, who he praised highly before ‘disappearing’ him.

I’m not saying he or Cam should be in the team, but he simply ignores some players for whatever reason without giving them any chance (Oko, Stevens, Whittaker etc etc). Meanwhile he insists on Fisher and Darling and then is forced to try Benda and drop both. It is all a bit weird. Definitely something other than football choices going on here with this bloke. We’ll probably never know.

Think some people are misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying that Martin hasn't dropped players (sometimes for reasons that aren't immediately clear).

But it's obvious in relation to these two characters that there's more to it than indifferent form.

So are we saying that Obafemi and Paterson are so problematic that they don't deserve a place in the match day squad then?

Or are they just too difficult for Martin to manage?

Or do they not fit in with the type of 'character' he wants?

Bizarre.

I think they are clearly difficult/childish characters but I find it very doubtful that 2 weeks ago Paterson was starting for us and now he's so bad he can't even be on the bench.
