Yeah, I mean nothing. Ever.

Obviously I wouldn’t want him or any other player to pick up any serious injury, but to never even miss two or three games in a season because of a knock is showing he is marking time in the pitch.
FotMob has him ranked as 198th in the table of tackles per 90 mins, less than one per game, with a success rate of 54%. Abdulai is ranked at 110.

Franco sits up on the front page of the leaderboard, 7th place with 2.4 per 90 and 66% success rate.

Scope is season 24/25.

The thing is, all the things Lisa's original post and Swanjaxs and Cooperman have pointed out above are entirely true, but those things are non-quantifiable in the world of the stat-obsessed laptop wankers we've got currently running the club.

If you can't measure it on a spreadsheet, then it doesn't exist.

I don't doubt for a minute Grimes himself knows this.
I was digging some stats out as you were typing this.

Said all this years ago, I'm sitting here laughing at all you saying stuff I repeated about 4 years ago, and everyone had a pop at me and how he was premier league.. you've decided to watch the game this season, class dismissed.

So the figures actually back up what I said earlier then. Franco does all the dirty work while he preens somewhere between our centre backs, stat padding his passing completion rate.

We had a coach with a different mindset four years ago. The Grimes of now wasn’t the Grimes of then.

If you look at the detailed stats, he’s top 10% for three things -

Passes
Pass completion
Salary

Given the passes and pass completion is largely tippy tappy to Darling and Cabango that’s not adding anything to what we need and is costing a lot of money.

Lots of people, me included, have never said anything of the sort.

Progressive passes is another one, a pass which breaks into the next third of the pitch. That’s relatively easy to do when you’re doing it from in or around your own D, to Darling or Franco who are fifteen yards in front of you.

I wish the Grimes lovers would explain this.

How is it that in 7 straight seasons playing largely in central or defensive midfield he has NEVER been injured if he’s genuinely putting it all out there every match, being combative, going for 50:50 balls, even 60:40 balls in his favour, putting his body on the line for us.

It is simply not possible that he’s doing anything other than making sure he’s never risking anything. Some players are better at avoiding injury, Ashley Williams was one, but to never ever be hurt is impossible as a midfielder if you’re giving 100%.

Every season he’s playing every single match. He may have missed one per season with a cold but that’s it. Have a look.
With a cold 🤣🤣🤣🤣

"Completed passes in the final third" is the latest wheeze that people have come up with to try and make him look good. In the WBA game we had 105. West Brom had 49. Who did it better?

Our pass chart in the final third is basically a V/U shape. Ball goes wide to a surrounded winger, ball comes back to Grimes, ball goes out to a surrounded winger on the other side. All very safe, all "completed", nothing to threaten opposing defences.
