• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Cynically you could argue he’s started the play once his contract was due but there’s more to it than that. He’s obviously settled here and he’s had his bumper contract so if it’s a reduced this time around then it’s a no brainer. If he’s still a top earner then there are some questions around why he’s had 2 years and we’ve not looked to replace him in the summer

It's strange that a player with over 10 years at the club and still only 31 is being discussed that receiving a new contract and hope his terms have been reduced really does give a clear indication to the situation.
Its great to have rose tinted glasses and a bit of sentiment, it's not really held us in stead over the years and I think if we want to go in the direction we are looking then tough choices need to be made.

1 year contract at reduced terms was top for me. Integral part of the unit i am sure, great on the training ground and changing rooms I am sure but a 2 year playing contract!?

It’s a two year contract where you have no visibility of the terms.

That's correct. I was just suggesting what I would be looking at given the full picture rather than basing something over recent months.
I am just putting my hopes that this new income coming in from sponsorship allows for 2 year contracts for players like Fulton and Fisher and/or Fulton continues his form over a longer period of time(length of his time here as a player).

As for Fisher, I would have been looking at bringing in a younger keeper who we see as a replacement for Vigs....more of a long term plan as such.

According to another fan site it is on " much reduced terms".

Yeah but he’s basing it on the full picture mun, not like the club who are only looking at the past few months performances. He knows how these things work see.

I will bet my next pay packet that we haven’t lavished money we don’t have on Fulton’s new contract.

The Vig succession plan will likely be our third choice keeper 😎

That is the thing, it has to be financially in the clubs best interest and the same for Fish IF he does eventually become the 3rd choice which I could see happening.
Finances and what is best for the club needs to be priority and hopefully not sentiment and what they are like around the club.

Extending the contracts of these two players is more financially viable than bringing in their replacements.

Suggesting the club has kept them on out of sentiment is nonsense. They've been kept on based on merit.
