I completely understand that argument and I’d love you to be proved right. My issue is that our club has been a bad place for a while and probably requires someone that we will put financial backing behind both personally and with the team itself. The next appointment is absolutely critical. It would be a huge gamble. You can't dismiss a guy because he's come through our system and not been a full time manager before. It should be decided on merit. He could be bang average or worse, he could be the next Brian Clough. That
should be determined in whatever process is used to select.
I remember the old Liverpool boot room boys, a string of managers appointed from within, each one had never managed a team before, each one seemingly better than the one before.
My example would be Roberto was a wild card pick after Kenny Jackett. Fans favourite, intelligent etc spoke a good game. But still a massive gamble. The difference there was Jackett wasn’t a disaster he just wasn’t the man to move us forward. We were in a good place. The club was well run.
Now it’s the reverse. I’d probably suggest experience this time or someone that we’ve identified that ticks all the boxes.
We can’t waste anymore time. It has to be right this time.
