New Manager

You sure? Look at who we lost to in the final, and tell me our side then was better than theirs for example.

Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Roerslev, Jensen, Janelt, Canos, Marcondes, Toney, Mbeumo.

Woodman, Naughton, Cabango, Guehi, Bidwell, Fulton, Grimes, Hourihane, Ayew, Roberts, Lowe.

Can't compare the two. Too many Swans fans have rose tinted specs when they reminisce about years gone by. Cooper getting to the play-offs twice was a remarkable achievement.
We couldn’t win that day, without a massive slice of luck, but we didn’t try. It felt like ‘their day’ from the time I got there. Their fans were like we had been in 2011. They knew, barring a huge banana skin, it was theirs. You just felt it in the air.

Plus, as you a]say, their team was better, and better managed. Frank is an incredible manager, deserves much more praise than he gets, the horrible git.

This made me think of my early days watching in the 70s when it was a real love affair. I left happy if we won. That’s it. That must mean I wasn’t happy a lot.

I remember the players but none of the football (I doubt it was ‘possession’ 🤣 although we had possession when we scored I’m sure.)

We are rose tinted about it all too. Quite a lot of the games under Rodgers and Laudrup were awful, and before Martinez got Anderson, a direct pacy goal threat, his gameplan was booed (Brighton home, 0-0 if anyone remembers). Convenient to forget that.

Win, excite, play at pace. In that order. Oh, and shoot you c***s.
From what I remember we've always tried to play with the ball on the floor with pace.

We were shit, at least we knew we were shit and didn't try to reinvent the game.

The year when Flynn brought Trundle to the club and we had a decent run in the FA cup stick in my memory the most.

Enjoyed every minute of that on the North Bank.

Cooper - Defo the best, most intelligent, most pragmatic we’ve had in a while.

Remarkabler - the way he transformed Forest and got them promoted playing the most exciting attacking brand, just like his England World Cup winning brand.
His brand smashed Martinwang 9-2, then did similar for Leicester against Martin’s Soton.

Forest are smashing it with his retained brand - one of the most exciting teams to watch, still

Frank is different class and I hate the cnt. Shame really. I used to love going to Griffin Park. One of my best away days was our first away game after Hollins got us promoted. 0-0 but I was in the The Griffin before and all night and until closing. Lovely lovely people. I was was so pi$$ed I got on the train going the wrong way, so instead of getting th etrain back to Tooting where I was living, I ended up in Reading. What a day.

But Cooper played shit football with a team full of absolute ballers.

He put the handbrake on quality players and didn’t really allow them to show their true quality.

The side that Cooper had was piss all over this league now if coached properly
Yep; and some loons say he wasn't backed. Fackin unbelievable

I lived in Tooting as a student-Undine Street near Broadway Station. Nearly 40 years ago now!

Cooper's team played tournament football. Cagey, low risk, happy to scrape a result.

Remarkably similar to the way Southgate had England playing during his time and probably based on the same template given that they both worked in the same structure. Similar in the criticism they received too.

Ok over six or seven games at a Euros or WC, but tedious over a 46 game season.

Conservative football.

Winning football.
Could have been better.
Debatable I would say but will always live in history as a missed opportunity.

Relegated clubs with the parachute payments in this league should be looking at play offs at the very least.
I won't lay too much blame at Cooper given the restrictions the owners put in place for all managers since relegation.

Nothing debatable about it, you don’t fluke reaching two consecutive play offs, despite what people may pontificate on line.

Or taking s team from the bottom of the championship to the premier league.

If you have a good enough squad then it's achievable for sure, given we had an 80k a week international coupled with players with real calibre then it wasn't a real suprise looking back.
People certainly want to push things aside to suit, it's certainly up for debate if we should have done better especially looking back with a clearer mind and what we had at hand at that time.
