Fulton won't be passing to any of the wide players, he's permanently facing his own goal and is only capable of passing the ball back to Grimes or one of the defenders .
Which is even more of a problem when he's standing next to Grimes, who's only capable of passing the ball back to one of the defenders

I think that quote answers that one!

I imagine Williams, like Duff has not much say at all about anything. I hope he at least wanted wingers though. Unless the Watson Crew just went for 'pace' without bothering about the players position. Amazingly, that wouldn't shock me now.
 
My take from the press conference was that he was just being nice/diplomatic
