I see FIFA are responding to the situation with the kind of inspirational, selfless leadership they're famous for:

You can't have your flag, your anthem and you have to play in neutral territory. That'll learn them.

Nothing about the fact that the team they're supposed to face in the playoffs has refused to play them...

Judging by FIFAs logic then I'm sticking a fiver on the National Union of Russian to win the World Cup

Nothing but an outright ban will suffice.

You’re a Russian conscript on training manoeuvres in the neighbouring state of Belorus. At their conclusion you and your pals are told by an officer that, with training over, you are now being sent into Ukraine on a peacekeeping mission to save the Ukrainians from a genocidal dictatorship that is oppressing your brother and sister Slavs. Don’t worry, you’re told, the Ukrainian military will put up token resistance at most and then surrender, because they and the population are secretly on your side, and anyway we have the best military. This will be more like a Parade than a battle.

After 4 days, you’re beginning to wonder where the cheering crowds and the grateful young girls throwing flowers and kisses are.

If you're gripped by what's going on do yourself a favour and follow r/Ukraine on Reddit. There's some absolutely amazing things going on across the globe. Norwegian coastguard seizing oligarch superyacht's just because they can, Chinese students risking arrest to protest, Belarussian teens sharing co-ordinates of Russian attack helicopters, Polish and Romanian folk creating care packages for newly arriving refugees, Anonymous taking control of Russian state tv channels, Georgian refueling vessel telling a Russian ship without power to go fuck themselves and row to shore, Ukrainian yacht worker arrested in Majorca after scuttling his Russian bosses boat, traditionally neutral Switzerland imposing sanctions on Russia, hundreds of thousands protesting in Berlin, BMW Mercedes and Skoda banning the sale of their vehicles in Russia, a monument to the soviet Army painted blue and yellow in Bulgaria, US millionaire offering to cover travel costs of anyone wanting to join the fight, legendary Syrian rebel who blew up 140 tanks in the civil war offers to fight for Ukraine... I could go on and on

I have been glued to this for a few days James. A lot less gloomier than main stream news and shows a lot of stuff that they wold not show.
The tractor stealing the tank is bonkers as is the guy casually carrying a mine off the road while smoking a fag.

Unless the Ukrainians are completely defeated, which we all pray isn't going to happen, then at some time both sides will have to sit down and talk to each other.

So what should the results of that be? Serious question. A week ago, it seemed that Russia wanted to take the eastern half of Ukraine (and maybe they could still do that) or perhaps all of the country, but the Ukrainians have shown that that hell will freeze over first. So where do we go from here?

We need to negotiate a peace treaty that we can all live with and which will endure. I'm guessing that will be that the Russians go home, the Russian rebel areas in south-east Ukraine will be given independence, Ukraine will commit to not joining NATO (just like Estonia and Sweden haven't) and that both sides will hold victory parades in Kiev / Moscow. If that's all that Putin gets, then his billionaire supporters will crucify him for destroying their finances.

I may be wrong (I often am) but I can't see any better outcome for Ukraine, please let us know if you can see anything better.

Russian intended to take Kiev in a lightning swoop and replace Zelensky. Their media accidentally released the post operational propaganda from Putin and EVENTUALLY deleated it - Wayback machine archieved it and the translation of the document is below...

THe link above demonstrates that Putin has only one objective and that is the subjugation and absorbtion of Ukraine.

As to a treaty that will endure... During the "ceasfire" whilst delegates went to the Belarussian border Putin mobilsed more forces from the border. He put his nuclear forces on high alert, whilst Belarus changed its law to allow nukes on it's territory and are sending their troops into Ukraine in support of Putin. Again Putin doen't want peace he wants Ukraine.

I will also ask why is it that once again you suggest that a sovereign nation cant decide for itself who it aligns itself with

Wrong question. Turkey is a sovereign nation that wants to join the EU, and has been refused for 20 years, and similarly NATO may refuse to allow Ukraine to join. I'm not saying that Ukraine should or should not be a member of NATO (that's up to Ukraine and NATO) - I'm asking you to predict what the peace treaty will eventually be. If you were the Ukrainian negotiator, what would you accept? Which bit of my prediction do you disagree with?

Whether its the wrong question is not for you to say. What is clear is that you cant answer it.

The us lost 4,500 in the 8 years of the Iraq war , the Russian dead in Ukraine has already passed that number
