Agree that he boxed us in last season,but how many caretaker managers go on to be successful….very few.
We should have thanked him for the job he did and then appointed someone who was more experienced and proven, we’ve spent big by our standards and the clubs profile is higher than it’s been for many years, I’m pretty sure the board expected more.

I've been behind Sheehan since he was caretaker after Russ, but this can't go on.

And I think the problem is that we've caught it early. Martin and Williams both had a solid 9 months or so before fans turned, happened much sooner this time

Not going to happen I’m afraid, the dye is cast time for a change, lovely bloke ( maybe that’s the problem) but poor tactically and too inexperienced, I did say he’d be gone by Xmas but by the look of things it’s going to be sooner.

That last bit is a good point.

Unfortunately, there's a smattering of players in our squad who revert to this sort of risk-averse stuff whenever the going gets tough. We all know who they are, they've all been here a while. There's about half a dozen of them.

I'm not making excuses for Sheehan, who needs to do something quickly to at least make us look like we might score a goal, but several of our players need to look at themselves as well. Some of them have burnt through 2 or 3 managers, and a 4th could be coming soon. It's not good enough. They're paid fortunes, and they go into their shells at the first sign of trouble. Too many of them are cowardly, sorry to say.

Based on that I'm not panicking yet, all this drama queenery is a bit OTT. We'll be fine, we've some more than decent players, were not a million miles away from being a decent outfit.

While it's not panic mode but how long before we see a glimpse of being a decent outfit.We don't see enough until it's forced on us to attack. Even then it's too little too late.
We have a few decent players but others don't seem to have the will to win. This added to us being very lightweight and pedestrian doesn't install confidence that things will change soon.
It must start with the coach to pick attacking minded set up

I do not see this at all. Southampton was awful but they are still trying. He is not a good attacking coach and we do not have enough good attacking players either. The players are still clearly trying for him.

Confidence will probably be quickly being lost all around though.
