I thought Inoussa was fab in the first half.
I enjoy watching him play, certainly can get you off your seat.

Lad has shown us glimpses of what he's about and upon times likes he could be a top player for us. I'm sure as he gets used to playing his football in a different league in a different country he will just get better and better.

We haven't seen a lot of him, but I've a suspicion that Casey might be the best centre-half at the club, which puts us in an awkward position given we have the club captain and a major summer signing (whose been good) taking up those 2 positions ahead of him, so not sure who we'd drop to accommodate Casey, although we would likely benefit from doing so.

Casey can play CB and RB... we need to play him more often

Widell, and Casey the plus points from tonight but I have to say I’m bitterly disappointed with the performances of Inoussa and Benson when he came on….oh and don’t get me started on Fulton.

I liked Fulton's dance with his arms in the air as the city player walzed past him and scored.

I'm really glad you have highlighted this. He was bloody brilliant. His reading of the game was second to none tonight.

That a back 5 might just be the way to go if we want to release Key and Tymon further forward, Casey is probably a better CB than Cabango, and Inoussa is raw but very direct and is about the only player we have with genuine pace to burn. I'd only make one change for Saturday and that would be bringing Vip back in.
This with knobs on, but I reckon he’ll play Cabango, EOM and Ronald to start. If he doesn’t pick Widell he’s an idiot.

So come on Al. Learn, then you’re more secure.

I'm sure he didn't intend it - his priority was probably to make us v hard to beat - but the unintended consequence was to make us much more dangerous down the flanks.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I say

First 25-30 mins I thought we were the better side and, let's get it right, that's 25-30 mins of acquitting ourselves brilliantly against one of the best teams in world football.

After that? Well surprise surprise, they started to get a grip on the match against a team a division below them.

But we never gave in and we didn't disgrace ourselves at all.

I actually think we stumbled upon a few things tonight:

Very impressed with Casey every time I see him, especially as he’s pretty much only starting once a month.

Tricky what to do with him at the minute but hope we get to keep him for the full season (and beyond if possible) - down to West Ham though and no doubt they’ll want him to play more than he currently is.

Interesting to see the team/formation on Saturday.

Very good performance against a top team even with the changes made.
The stats can look bad, but Fisher had very little to do and our blocks were solid not desperation.
Even our limited attacks were at a higher tempo than we've been used to and quite a few nearly passes.
I'll say that as a positive considering the team we were playing. Nearly passes in our league games have been due to wrong options or lazy play.
Shame they added a third at the end, but a performance if replicated in the league can bring better results

Josh Key had his best game for us and Man City's superior conditioning and their will to win done us, good 45 minutes though something to build on, 5 at the back suited us, Samuels-Smith was a rolls royce.. fair play to Man City, they're a serious outfit with serious athlete's.. they're serious about football, just like New Zealand are serious about rugby

Spot on. I have been a Key critic with good cause but fair play with Widell providing defensive support he did well against a very tricky oponent in defence and was more like his previous self going forward. Both Casey and Samuels-Smith are indeed classy footballers

I've advocated Casey being selected from the start. He has all the attributes neither Key or Cabango have.

We need to take the first half momentum into Saturday.

Also, makes a big difference when the ground if full with an atmosphere, you could see the players thriving off it.

There must be a away to fill the plastic South Stand !?
