S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | WBA 3 Swansea 2 | Att: 22,200 (1,032) | 29/11/25 | The EFL Championship l The Hawthorns

Alternatively these two games may have come at the worst possible time
Unfortunately this may well be the case.

We know this squad has poor mental strength and low confidence, I can't see them being up for this battle against 2 teams around us....being home puts more pressure on us.

I just can't believe we are where we are after such a (seemingly) positive summer
Only positive in terms of transfer hype, but that wasn't based on any reality or reason. I doubt all but a very small minority of us fans had heard of most of our signings let alone seen them play. And then people got even more carried away because we were spending £5 million and £7 million on two players. Galbraith's the only one who's worked out and looks like he belongs in this league.

They can’t get fit in a week. There is no point starting like a train if you fall apart after 20 minutes. I know this personally and painfully as it’s what I do every week at Parkrun, and every week I think I’ll do different. I hope Matos is brighter than me.
In fairness to Matos, you not going to really know how fit your players are when you've only been there a week.

Oh well, I’m going to forget that and go to see the Australian Pink Floyd tonight. I should enjoy that.
I didn’t 🤣 and I love Pink Floyd. But our seats had truly terrible acoustics (it sounded like they were stepping on their guitars) and we had to leave at half time as my head was ringing. I went home and played the records instead. I’m sure you’ll love it. Most do.

Genuine question if we lose both Pompey and Oxford, do we gamble and get a Rowatt type appointment (idk if there is any of those about) we cannot mess around here we need results.

Giving it to a guy who has managed 12 games in the 2nd Portugese division without his backroom staff is just shows a complete lack of appreciation for the position we are in.
You're blaming manager after that?

Been busy today and not been able to get online, but I was able to get a score update midway through the first half and was chuffed to see it 0 2 - I genuinely believed we were getting a reaction after the debacle earlier in the week. Checked just now and saw it was 3 2 - ffs.

Looked at the BBC site and read the match report, it’s grim. The stats suggest it was like the Alamo without heroics, they had 26 shots against 3 for the Swans. That’s grim. There’s a lot of work to be done if this is to be turned around.

We won’t be ‘gambling’ any time soon. Having just appointed Matos on a four year deal, do you really think that we’ll be thinking about kicking him out already?

I agree, the signings look like league 1/2 players. Inoussa looks a very bad buy, whoever scouted him should be sacked.

For twenty minutes it was brilliant stuff. Then the car crash happened.

The owners need to get their hands in their pockets come January if they want to stay in this league.
We need rid of Idah, Fulton, Cullen, Ronald, maybe Inoussa, maybe Key, maybe Eom.
We need a decent striker, box to box midfielder, two wingers.
Maybe Matos needs to look again at our youngsters too. Parker certainly looked Championship standard a couple of years ago. What's changed?

The start of today's game was a step in the right direction. The only positive we have in terms of fitness is there is still a long way to go in the season.

It was an unbalanced spend highlighted by our weakest area on the pitch(RB) having no player to just step in.

Yalcouye and Benson nowhere to be seen today.
Idah looking awful from day one and not improving.
Burgess getting worse week on week.
Too many central midfielders.

+ CB, RB.

Do you think it’s worth getting lissah and Wilson back from Falkirk or are they too inexperienced for the fight ?
What about glory nzingo his loan spell ends 31/12.
Matos has a track record of developing young players , but is it the right time?
