Season 21/22 The Official Coventry City vs Swansea City Match Thread

The bravery shown to keep playing football when under pressure was incredible. Some of the control, reverse passes. Even hamers distribution on times an outfield player would be jealous of.

The desire to sprint in the closing minutes to close down also can’t go unnoticed.

I’d say we take more risks than we did under Rodgers…

I loves it

I bet their fans went there tonight thinking "Another routine win and into third position we go!".
Hang on a minute....

Like our fans against a Birmingham team that had lost 6 on the spin scoring zero goals in the process you mean?

That's why we can't get carried away. This league more than any other is ridiculously bonkers and laughs at the form book.
All teams mess up when least expected.....plus 4 wins from 5 has you a play off hopeful and not a relegation candidate.

We'd do well to remember that.

I'm certainly not getting carried away. But it's a time to appreciate where we've improved and go with it. If it peters out and we end up mid table, that's entirely expected.

We've all been there before but celebrate the wins and try not to get too low at the defeats

Absolutely correct.

We are on a great run of form now, but Bournemouth were pegged for me to be one of the top two candidates along with West Brom and so far they have not disappointed. This will absolutely be one of our hardest games of the season so far.

A good win against a good side, that was as good as we have played this season, entertaining match of two good footballing sides, Jesus we look calm passing that ball around between players in awful situations my nerves are shredded.
Yes me too. We were getting caught out early on by sides who were not nearly as good at high pressing as Coventry. Now we are doing it successfully against the top teams in the division. If we can get the final ball right then there will be no one to fear.
We are certainly looking like contenders now. There were lots of complimentary comments on the Coventry forum. Also a few sour grapes as well but who can blame them. :D

As the old saying goes just got back so before I read the thread a few comments.

A great start but then give away a needless goal. Any chances Coventry got was mostly down to our own overplaying, but in saying that we deserved the lead at half time. Game was very open as the second half developed a few good moves by us where the final pass/shot was delayed. Coventry had a few half chances but mostly down to enthusiasm than good play. Final minutes were a bit nervy but the final whistle reflected on game management. Well done the team for a hard won three points and great support from the travelling fans.

They’re going on about Laird offside. Looked pretty well timed to me.

Haven't seen it again but in real time offside didn't come into thoughts before celebrating the goal

Well said. We should enjoy tonight's performance as long as possible, but not get cocky because this division will punch you in the stomach at some point.

There's only 6 points between 6th and 18th. What a great division the Championship is.

Just got back, really enjoyed the game with two good teams really going for it in the first half and us playing some lovely stuff. Had to dig in a bit in the second half as they threw everything at us but we stood up to it well and Hamer only had a couple of saves to make.

If you watch the highlights on the Sky Sports website, there's a Coventry fan in the stands waving his inflatable sheep (very original) around, then throwing it to the ground in anger/disgust when Piroe scores.

Only a couple of weeks ago loads of our own people thought we couldn't play this way with Bennett.

theyve never played this way and will struggle with it big time.

Hey mate, that is not exactly right. Bennet is a good defender, he was my m.o.m. for the second time this season I thought he held us together at the back and positionally he is silky smooth.

What was clear last season has been sorted by B Cooper to some extent and now of couse Naughton.

Grimes played very well against Man City.

We have talked about putting Cabango and Bennett in the middle to mark Mitrovic.

The main issue is that we have changed styles and are getting back to the league position we have been in since relegation after a poor start.

I enjoyed watching Coventry. Try to move the ball forward quickly and play the game the right way.
