I'll take anything other than Fisher aka Butter Fingers.

Similar story with the dead wood (which probably determines filling the gaps to some extent)I must admit my earlier optimism is starting to wane, we made great moves early on to get some players in but we still have gaping gaps that appears to be no movement on.
Start of last season we were all buzzing about our prospects, we'd spent a few bob on a few totally unknown players, they all failed, spend peanuts you might get...Apart from up front, where are these gaping gaps I keep seeing people referring to?

I was out in Spain watching and he definitely is a little bit special. A different kind of player to O’Brien and I agree with you it would have been great to have him as he would have made our midfield one of the best in the division. Also Melker will be a sensation for us I have no doubt. We do need one more MF player and a good one to top things off.I think a lot of people seem to be putting a lot of hope on a player that was playing at Orient last season and cost about a million quit or so. He looks a good player from what I’ve seen but it’s unreasonable to expect t him to deliver in the way that someone like O’Brien - who’s proven himself at this level on more than one occasion.
Not a Leon on any respect. Miluch more box to box like Pratley wasThe thing about O brien is that he is taking the place of three players wages. I think we needed him but in reality he is a poor man's Leon. He is good and very good in the Championship but we saw the good and the weaknesses of the man especially at the end of the season. The word is that we stopped chasing him over 5 weeks ago and are concentrating on 3 players who are quite good to say the least.
It’s an opportunity for him to stuff words down a few peoples throats and I think (without useless Grimes holding him back) he’ll be an asset when the going gets tough. I think people forget he was a decent player in the PL for us. He hasn’t been used properly by our last 3 managers and I hope he really gives it his best this season.Could be a big season for Jay
Surely Piroe will go out on loan. Would love to have him backIndeed. I know I was dreaming that we'd be able to get a proven Championship level striker who's style of play would fit seamlessly into our squad.
He'd probably be, what, £18-20m?

No specialist full back cover at all. Either side.
If one of Franco or Galbraith gets injured or needs a rest - or we have to play Galbraith at full back because we don't have enough cover there - the only CDM cover is Fulton (which is not good enough).
And we need an upgrade on our current centre forwards. Anyone can see that.
There's your gaps.
It depends what the ambition is. If we're happy with mid-table then fine, don't fill all these gaps. We won't go down.
But if we're setting our sights higher, then we've got no chance.
So two full backs that could probably be covered by one or two loans?
Fulton is absolutely good enough to play as back up.
Is anyone seriously expecting/hoping for more than a comfortable upper mid table season?
