Agree re Inoussa and Widell. I always thought Bennett was a strong defender but that was about it, which worked for Cooper and his more conservative style of football. When asked to play the ball, he was left wanting. Still, he’s pretty much responsible for our win against Blackburn when we went down to 10 men.
Bennett and Cabango were incredible that day

Yates to Derby, one of the low placed sides from this season or one of the promoted sides would be quite feasible
If all we got was a few million that would be perfectly acceptable considering the wages it frees up in the budget
I think he will go to Derby. If we can get at least 1 Million for him then I'll take that. It's really good to see our club be so pro active and not sit on this one with Mykola going. I just can't see Fulton staying. We either lose money by him leaving on a free next season or we take something for him now. Rumours that Sheehan doesn't have him in mind. Also add into the fact we have more experience added into the team with the 2 defenders, Fulton needs to go to allow fresh legs and old regiment to go.

With Naughts now retired I believe that Fulton is the only player left in the club from our Premier League days and by far the oldest serving current member of the squad

It's all getting a bit silly now and this wow signing hasn't helped the situation.

The window is running along nicely but some seem to be making it out to be an absolute masterstroke! For me it's just highlights how bad our previous windows have been that has had people calling this window a great window so far.
It's a lot better and looking a lot more organised which isn't something to get that carried away with presently.

There is still a lot of work to be done both in and out.

All said and done, one thing the club have done is show a pro active approach to the window that has got the place feeling a bit more excited.....and is much needed.
Jesus - after all the crap windows we’ve endured this is a total success already and we haven’t finished by half yet. You’re a man with not so much a glass half empty more a glass with a hole in the bottom!

I was having a good evening until you reminded me of this 😂😂😂. At least with Naughton he brought something. Fulton I honestly can't think of any moments that was good with him. Oh yeah, everyone saying he is a good player as he put 1 of his best matches under us for years last season. Can you tell I'm not a fan 😂😂

There aren't any red flags with any of the signings. All have good highlight reels or stats, or both. This was in stark contrast to the signing of the likes of Kukharevych, who had a handful of good games for Hibs by way of pedigree.

Good stats and impressive scouting reports doesn't guarantee anything of course. When we signed Bennett, he had a very decent Premier League pedigree behind him, and although he had his moments, his period with us was pretty underwhelming. Daniel Comolli (DoF at Liverpool and Spurs) is quoted along the lines of - We go through the exact same detailed process with all players, and whilst some still turn out to be World class, others fail miserably.

We need to be patient with those coming from overseas, such as Inoussa and Widell, given the settling in period tends to be longer.
I thought Bennett was a very important cog in Coopers sides and part of a defence which didn’t concede many goals at all

Bennett was an excellent defender if his only job was to defend. Under Cooper thats exactly what he was signed for and what he signed up for. Defend his box and clear the ball up to other players to do their job at the opposite end of the pitch.

He only came across as underwhelming under Martin where he was demanded to play the ball out himself and help create attacks, a style of play that he had never trained for and subsequently was unsuited for.

Agreed. Bennett was a good player for what Cooper wanted out of his centre-halves and plenty of other 'old-school' managers would likely feel the same (not using 'old-school' as an insult there, more a reference to recent trends in the game).

I remember having a debate with a Stoke fan I worked with during our first few seasons in the PL. We were having great success with our passing game and Stoke under Pulis were doing well with their more agricultural approach. I made the point that Pulis' Stoke team would be awful if they tried to play our way. He argued that the Stoke players were good enough to play that way if that's what their manager wanted. I laughed at the idea of the likes of Shawcross playing like Ash. Bennett would be good evidence of the point I was trying to make.

Give it a few years and Pederson will be the player we struggle to remember played for us.

Rhys Williams

I can only remember him being absolutely dire, easily bullied and crumbled under pressure but can't actually remember the games he played in to give me that impression
I remember him making Andy Carroll look quick in a game against Reading but his substitute appearance against Southampton in the FA Cup was embarrassingly bad

Thats more than me, with most players I can at least point to a game and give evidence of the opinions I have formed and memorable moments from the matches they played for us.

But with Rhys its like I experienced a severe trauma in my past, my brain has scrubbed all memory of it from my mind to protect me from it

Was that the game where Carter-Vickers got himself sent off like 3 minutes into his debut?
Wasn't it Courtney Baker-Richardson? Correct me or wrong?

'' Courtney Baker-Richardson saw red just five minutes into his Football League debut after he was sent off for a challenge on James Meredith. That left the Swans having to dig deep at The Den''
