Summer Transfer Window

Sorry, can't agree with that.
He's been at Luton for 1 season & made 28 appearances for them- it would have been far more but he was sent off 3 times so missed around 7 games due to suspension. He also started a good number of those games & played 90 minutes for them a number of times.
He may have played 20 games
for us 2 seasons ago but how many minutes did he play?
In 3 seasons he rarely started & never played 90 minutes.
He played 35 times for Cov the season before he signed for us.
Can't be bothered to look at minutes played but there's no comparison.
Our fitness team really have some questions to answer.

He didn't play a lot of minutes because the managers preferred to play other players ahead of him, so many of his appearances were as substitute, whereas a Luton side who were relegated started him a lot more than us. All that says is that we had better options than Walsh. If we'd needed him to play more minutes, he could have.

That Coventry season was the only one in his career that he stayed fit for an entire season. Most other seasons he didn't even reach double figures. Injury prone players will have the odd season or two where they're lucky and they don't suffer any serious injuries. The idea that we somehow 'broke' him is bonkers.

Sorry but that is blatant revisionism

All of the managers that we had would have loved to use Walsh more often, his qualities were on full display when he smashed in that 25 yard worldie a few games before the end of his final season under us. The boy's problem was that he was horrifically injury prone and never able to stay fit for more than a few games at a time.

This didn't seem to be a problem for Luton or for his club before us where he clocked up 30+ appearances for each
Does our medical team have questions to answer?

Possibly but to suggest that he didn't play because we had better when his competition at the time was the likes of Jay Fulton, Oli Cooper, Luke Cundle etc is madness

So when do we expect news about the potential loan signings from West Ham (seems likely) and Liverpool (not so sure about that/those)? West Ham finished their US tour on 3 August so have probably been back a couple of days now. Liverpool have been back from their Far East tour for a while and played their last pre-season friendly at Anfield on Monday.

Presumably there's a rhythm to these things, right? Straightforward deals (like our early signings) can get done any time in the window, loans from EPL teams (and their international equivalents) tend to get done around now once their parent clubs have decided what they want to do with their promising players, and then there's the usual last minute nonsense that we all hate when clubs like Wycombe have their backs to the wall.

I understand why some posters on here think that the lack of signings mean the people running the club aren't working hard enough/have written off the first few games, but surely those factors I just outlined determine when we can get business done? And I expect 2/3 of the rest of the teams in the Championship are in the same boat right now.

They are allowed to sign loans an free agents
I would have thought Leeds want to sell as they would have no benefit loaning him out and he is still under contact.

His wages have just doubled after their promotion as well.

He didn't play a lot of minutes because he wasn't available due to injury & the managers couldn't rely on him not breaking down when he was with us.
Martin, Duff & Williams all mentioned his attributes that were badly needed on times but they couldn't pick him.
He played a load of games in the season before we signed him & a load of games in the season after he left us.
Coventry & Luton can keep him fit, we couldn't

Similar thing happened with Pedersen.
Constantly injured but always seemed to be in the videos doing analysis and the odd glimpse of him on the pitch training.
I sometimes wondered with Pedersen, did he have a clause in his contract that he was paid extra every time he was in the match day squad and/or played.

It looks like nodody wants to sign him permanently most probably because of his wages my understanding is Leeds are still paying half his wages

I don't rate him that highly

Very similar to Cullen in that he lacks pace and physicality to be a No 9. I would say Cullen is more clinical, however Geldhart is a better football and will link play better and can be effective in all 3 positions behind the striker.

He has the ability to be a star in the Championship and is primed for a breakout season.

Wages will be big and he wants to go to Hull, which is why Leeds will pay half, plus he has a good season and his value rises with another year still on his contract.

Looks a right bruiser, sign him up
Would he be the 1st swans player with Afghan origins?
