Manning wants top wages beyond what Championship clubs can afford (that many clubs will pay), while Latibeaudiere is on a small wage by senior standards similar to Paterson when he first signed and wants to be brought up to first team level.

This is somebody's comment on The Athletic under the story about Martin leaving:

An absolute circus.

To break the cycle that we are in, we needed to make smart decisions, like giving a manager a contract when his stock was lower (on paper, his underlying stats always suggested we were a top side) We cannot compete in terms of finances with mid table championship clubs, let alone championship clubs with parachute payments.

Martin should’ve been given a contract at any point last season. The underlying numbers were there, he is a top, top manager. Southampton have a great manager and fantastic person, but a long contract with assurances is needed to succeed.

An absolute p*ss poor display from the decision makers at Swansea.

One things certain he won’t get the time he had here that’s for sure, he must have real confidence thinking he’ll get that club in shape right away with his style, he might get the funds to get players in but doesn’t gurantee fuck all.
