Our rig is becoming more and more popular, especially with finches, and we have just installed a double decker feeder which means we can have 8 birds on the tit at any given time. With the feeders, the basket plus the floor we can get up to 20 birds at a time.

Then this morning a sparrow hawk arrived, sitting on the top of the rig. She was massive, about the same size as a feral pigeon.

It says online that they like munching on finches, and prefer it when the hunting is easy.

Lovely bird the Wheatear, always see a few on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, it and the Bullfinch show their white rear ends when they are flying away from you.

A friend of mine volunteers to count the Bearded Tits at Westhay Moors Nature Reserve where this shot was taken. Haven't been there in a while so might pop down there soon as it's only a 5-6 minute drive from my house.

I've also got a local Sparrowhawk taking the occsssional bird, but by far the biggest problem for us has been the rats coming over from the neighbour's completely overgrown garden. I've seen up to 7 of various sizes.

The good news is that the guy from Swansea council has been here every Friday for the last 6 weeks, checking on his poison, and I haven't seen 1 rat for about 3weeks now. I had to relocate the two feeders I keep up and running,
