Oh dear.
He didn’t just ‘hoof it’. Ffs.
The young lad gets MOTM, busts a gut and outshines EPL Ashby by considerable distance.

Ashby looked a bit zombied. Needs to be given time to get with the programme. Darling to right back and back 4 please.

And in all honesty, Fulton might be a hard working honest footballer but we need better…simple.

I’d love better than Jay in our side, but he was hung out to dry today.

Agreed.
He’s a natural born AM, morphed into what most fans now think of as a utility CM.

And he’s no DCM, despite his physical stature.

We now deserve specialists. With Jay our proper super sub.

Fulton had a good game. Nullified by weight of numbers but he played well.

He had an ordinary game…nothing more, always been a yard short pace and apart from the odd goal and pass lacks any real quality.
The Championship is probably the fifth biggest league in Europe, he may be a fans favourite ( I’ve never quite got that mind ) but as I said earlier we need better.

Ashby’s just back from a tour overseas, plus he’s just moved village.

Ratings for me:

Rushworth 7 - Played his part in being at fault for opening goal but made several great saves. Looks very promising
Key 8 - Never stopped running, looked far more dangerous in second half and I think he will kick on and be a favourite
Wood 7 - Kept it tidy and did what he could to keep Birmingham quiet
Cabango 6 - Also at fault for the opener thinking he had time to let the ball trickle to him when the press was on
Darling 7 - Surprised at his long throw, unlucky to hit the bar with a header after a corner
Ashby 6 - Looked rusty with his new team mates, I expect more when he develops an understanding with Darling
Grimes 8 - Worked hard in midfield and was definitely looking forwards more. Great ball to Cullen for the equalizer
Fulton 7 - Battled hard in a midfield where he was being over run
Paterson 6 - Thought that he had moments but was also anonymous for much of the game
Piroe 7 - A few sighters at goal including two scrambled off the line but never really had a clear chance
Yates 9 - Never stopped working, fought for everything and a great finish

Cullen 7 - Made an impact off the bench with a perfectly weighted ball for the assist
Abdulai 6 - One chance when through but made the wrong decision. Will learn and definitely one for the future

Duff 7 - The shape I don't think helped us, left it pretty late to make two changes. Had three changes left but never used them when we had Brum on the ropes.

Grimes 8??? One great pass and a sackful of shite, he wants away to Southampton, and I'll happily drive him tomorrow.

Some lovely crunchy tackles, good to see! Sell Grimes and NtCham then buy a couple more and we'll be ok.

Yeah I’m sure selling grimes would work a treat. We’d have been completely shafted without him today.

Whenever this type of tripe is posted an alert sounds.

Bluenile - another peripheral poster filed into the abyss as someone who clearly has no idea, and clearly has never played the game to a decent level.

Get a grip.

Yeah I got to be honest, footballs all about opinions and all that jazz, and my personal opinion is, if you think Grimes is poor, then you have not got the slightest clue about the gam. Zero point in me carrying on any further with the convo.

Always difficult to gauge things from an opening game of the season.

It was a very disjointed performance with no player looking at ease.
There was some good moves, but players didn't seem to be on the same wavelength. An attacking playmaker in midfield is a must.
If we are to play 2 upfront then they need to play nearer each other as many moves broke down due to isolation.
Key had a solid start, but I do think we overplayed as our outlet without giving him options or support.
In short plenty to work on, but to early to say how our season will go with the transfer window still open.

One other comment due to a stop/start 4 hour journey, we parked at the park and walk. I knew no cash and card only but roads were gridlocked due to only one in the gate with his card scanner.

Plus, people seem to have forgotten Steve Cooper.

If there was one thing Cooper knew how to do while here, it was to train his players to do the ugly, boring stuff effectively and not give away cheap goals.

*No idea if it's the same at Forest, barely watched them play in the last couple of seasons.
