What are the main reasons for this Dar?

This is not my opinion I’ve never seen him play but there’s a frightening amount of Celtic fans glad to see the back of him.

Every single Swans fan was glad to see the back of Gyokeres.

I wonder what ever happened to him?

In all seriousness I think the whole striker search has been utterly ruined by the whole ‘wow’ signing nonsense. And also, as I’ve said a few weeks ago, has been made worse by a summer of various social media accounts falling over themselves to be ‘first’ with news. Most of which has been completely wrong or contradictory.

It’s fairly obvious that there was at least two, possibly more, players that we went for that were just out of our reach and went elsewhere, or haven’t moved. At least not yet.

But at some point, realism needs to kick in and we have to upgrade our options.

With Idah, it seems to me, we have absolutely done that.

He is still a young player who, rightly or wrongly, was valued by Celtic at £9m or so in his very early twenties. For whatever reason it didn’t quite work for him there, although it worked well enough that they chose to exercise their option to pay that amount for him after a loan spell when they didn't have to if he was anywhere near as bad as some are making out.

We have a coach who will know him well, which for me dispels any nonsense about attitude, and we are a club that at present will struggle to attract the finished articles but may attract players that for whatever reason have somewhat lost their way and need a new home.

Several of our very best players in the past have been exactly the same. Our fan base was perhaps a little less toxic in those days.

In a striker, it seems to be impossible to coach the raw attributes needed - pace, strength, being in the right place at the right time. From the little I’ve seen he has all that. Certainly more so than what I see in our current players. So I would say welcome, fingers crossed, and let’s hope he turns into a superstar with us. He may well do.
But let’s stop knocking him until we’ve given him a chance. It’s awful to see some of the stuff written about him. Particularly on twitter. I can only hope he doesn’t read any of it. Otherwise he’s starting with a noose around his neck.

Well done to the club for getting a player in at a price that the club can obviously afford to pay. Usually this ends in no player on deadline day. This time it hasn’t so credit where it’s due.

Let’s leave the whole marquee signings until we’re back where we belong. And don’t forget Renato Sanches was the biggest possible marquee signing that could be made and he was utter crap.

As an aside - I like the fact we’ve signed a player with good experience of British football and of this league. As we’ve seen before, the pace and physicality of the championship can catch out the most promising of continental players.

Looking forward to seeing him play.

If this is anything to go by he looks like a bit of what we've been missing with holding up the ball and linking play. He seems quite strong..

Interesting. I'm well aware that will be a compilation of his best stuff and we're not going to see that every game, but he certainly seems able to do plenty of things I don't think we will ever see from VIP, such as dribbling for starters. Vip doesn't have enough pace or quick enough feet for that. Certainly looks like he has most of the tools we've been lacking.
