Genuinely, you are being ridiculous. This is an absolutely seismic event for the country. In 500 years’ time yesterday will be talked about in any assessment of our history.

Ukraine are playing football while they are literally fighting off an invasion. Let that sink in

If they thought the invasion would only delay one weekend’s games it would be different I suspect.

Saying that you didn’t understand why it’s an event at all honestly makes you sound like an idiot.

Well not many people outside of football would get a minutes silence yet I've acknowledged it should be done.

Ultimately we've all still got bills to pay and will get soaked in the rain today. Real peoples problems where life will go on (albeit more miserably without sport over the next few weeks)

People get minute’s silences every other week.
It’s not a few weeks, it’s one game.
And no one has said people’s lives won’t go on or no one has bills to pay.

It's not though is it? What tangible difference will there be to people's lives? Besides a slight change in a national anthem that isn't ours and a few new coins being minted?

Yes, it is.

This is the start of a different era for Britain and its constituent countries (and Northern Ireland for that matter). Everything is different now. It may well take some time, maybe years, some of us may not see it, but this marks the end of something and the start of something different. It’s a defining moment in our history.

Superleague & Premiership Rugby Union will be going ahead on Saturday as scheduled.

As well as the cricket. I think the football league and premier League have moved way to quickly to stop the fixtures this week.

I've always thought that there's too much stress put on the significance of the monarchy. A lot of it is symbolism from a bygone era. It does feel like a watershed moment but for the House of Windsor and the future of the monarchy rather than that of the country itself.

International breaks where our national team (and others) play. So there is no break there for activities unrelated to football.

Well she was head of state but with no real responsibility- just a relic of a bygone era. Let's face, all normal peoples lives will not change - her dying isn't life changing. Not really a big deal.

But the response is making it an unwarranted bigger deal than it is.

"seismic event"
What actually has changed? For 99.99999% of people in this country - absolutely nothing.

Both my boys football is off tomorrow.

Not sure now whether to take them to see Grease the musical, Jospeh as his technicolor dream coat or Bristol v bath in the rugby?

Something to be celebrated then!

It seems very seismic for you but not for me in the slightest, watching my brother die of cancer at 20 and losing my dad and gran last year was seismic, I'm sorry for your loss of your Queen but you'll have to forgive me if it doesn't impact me the same way.

Wouldn't surprise me if next week is off too because it's close to the funeral.

Nothing is different. Just a different rich person none of us will ever know or probably meet draining away our taxes. They have zero influence on decisions that affect peoples lives. Every difference will be entirely superficial.

My lads u9 match is off tomorrow, due to FAW instructions.

The club have arranged an in house friendly v the U10s instead.

Just done a roll call of those that still want to play, in case anyone wants to drop out. - 100% confirmed attendance.

I think football has made a poor decision to be honest. And out of kilter with most other sports which are going ahead with appropriate tributes, that's what football should have done.
