Welsh League Cup

If this is blocked by the FA and EFL that's where it needs to end.

I can't see any good coming from the four Welsh clubs in the English pyramided challenging their decision.

Meh.

You would have thought they'd speak to the FA before they start all this to get an idea of how all this might pan out. You know, seeing if there would be any circumstances under which this would be allowed and going from there.

Spending all this time coming up with a plan with UEFA and working out the money and logistics with all the teams, when the people who have the final say are like 'Oh, f*ck no, of course f*ck no'.

Be interesting to see if the welsh FA and clubs would consider legal challenges, and if they do, whether they have a leg to stand on.

If they didn’t consult with the FA first then there was only one outcome. The FA would hate the fact that they went elsewhere for permission first 🤣

The basis of a legal challenge would be interesting.

A final decision hasn't even been made yet and this report is just providing some inside info about what the consensus seems to be with those that matter, but it has to be said, the reasons given don't appear slam dunk, and mainly consist of a mixture of jealousy and bitterness. 'They want to have their cake and eat it', I mean, who doesn't? Sorry you don't have a cake, I guess? There's also some envy towards Wrexham's exposure to the US and how they're profiting from that and this might give them more exposure and commercial revenue. Get back in your misery box and suffer with the rest of us doesn't seem the most legally sound argument.

I'd have to assume there are some fairly watertight legal provisions about the FA having the final say on what competitions a member club can participate in, or something along those lines. I guess it depends on what, if any, justifications they need to give to make that determination.

If it does go against us, I hope we don’t appeal it, because I have no doubt that that would definitely come back to haunt us.

I’m staggered that we didn’t approach the FA first with this, rather than all the other organisations that have been mentioned.

You're staggered because that would be the logical, sensible way to approach it.
This is Swansea City Football Club. Apparently the new ownership knows what it's doing.
I've yet to see proof of it.

Fair point.

If this ends up being a no no, how much has it cost the club?
It appears it's another Andy Coleman own goal at the expensive of him and the ownership group.

Spending hundreds of thousands at the very least, hoping to mix with Florentino Perez etc (even though they'd never play Conference football)

But forgot to speak to the key stakeholders in it all happening at the start.

It's like asking for permission to marry a woman when she's going to turn down a first date. Nice one, Andy.

I'm tending to lean towards this being a negative thing for the club. Yet to hear what positives this brings us,

Would love the owners to consult the fans for our thoughts on this. It's never going to happen.

What positives this brings us?!

We’d be playing in Europe… would be able to attract far higher quality players than probably most of our championship counterparts because of that.

I’d imagine it would bring in extra revenue - if the competition money goes to the FAW - I don’t think they’d be taking our extra sponsorship deals etc

I’d love more European adventures!
