What are we really expecting from Matos....

No more of a risk than when we appointed Garry Monk who had zero managerial/coaching experience when we were in the PL

Appointing any manager/coach us always a risk we appointed Martin who had had 2 seasons experience,Duff with 5 seasons experience how did those work out?

We fail to give the club managment any kudos in the selection process as it is kept being said "there is no football" knowledge....despite our CEO having spent the majority of his career in football clubs admittedly not focused on the playing side but his last role was as CEO too. What football knowledge did David Goldstone ,Malcolm Struel, Doug Sharpe,Huw Jenkins have?

According to the owners Christmas message the recruitment process was detailed....

It is early days but what I have seen so far makes me think we actually might have got it right this time.
Watching the video showing him arriving at the club...meeting the staff at Fairwood how he spoke with them ,how he seems to be in the dressing room and his interviews pre and post match filled me with some confidence .
He has spoken much about building a team and I believe that wasnt just about on the pitch, where he has made an impact in a short frenetic period of games and without his coaching team.

I feel far more confident in Matos than I did in the early days of Martin..( I was crucified on the boards for dissing him very early doors) or Duff and even Sheehans appointment. Still early days and it could go all wrong lets hope not.

I have no expectations of playoffs our games under Sheehan put paid to that....All I ask from Matos is the continuing improvement with us winning more and scoring more.
We are creating chances we had 2 golden ones at Coventry which we failed to convert they could have given us that win against a higher team that is talked about. We created a couple yesterday too resulting in a blicjed shot from Fulton and Ronald shooting when perhaps he could have passed inside.

We are looking a different side to the one we saw just before Sheehans dismissal in terms of workrate...yet Sheehan talked about us needing one yet couldnt get the same players to do what they are now plus we have mire attacking intent.
The appointment of Monk was ludicrous. And probably was the decision that led to us being where we are today rather than an established premier league team that has qualified for Europe several times.

I agree that we are looking loads better. I’ve said so on a number of occasions. And I’ve also said I like Matos so far.

Matos has come in and done a great job so far and long may it continue.

I wanted it to work with Sheehan, in the end it was hard to defend him keeping his job. The problem with some people is they don't like to admit it when they're wrong.
You didn't advocate for Matos, so it's bit rich that you are taking the moral super fan outlook on the 90% of people on this forum who thought it was a risk.. have an opinion, you're like Neath_Jack.. don't have an opinion, then call everyone everything.. you're an odd one, no wonder that manager you hated weren't at all fussed on you..

We also need a creative midfielder and, to be honest, we need a new centre forward if this is the style Matos is after. Vipotnik, for all he’s had a better season and has scored some spectacular goals, isn’t the right type of player longer term for a high energy pressing game. Idah may be, but haven’t seen much of it as yet.
Yep, been thinking this, a good creative AM and a striker that suits Matos style, and that is not a dig at VIP as he’s done well with the limited service.
He is improving a little in dropping deep but think someone else with all the attributes would be great.
How on earth we find that person though is another question.🤔

Every appointment is a risk in every job in life. It's just managers/coaches have a magnifying glass on them and alot to lose. It doesn't mean because you hire a pep it will suddenly work. It takes different elements to make things work. From how you get on with your boss, staff etc. Anyways, I think we can all agree that Matos has done a fab job. He has admitted himself we are transitioning. And I know many of you don't like that, but it's a fact
So get used to it. Let's give the guy a break. Let's get behind him, stop bashing the team over 1 loss or wins over teams lower than us and get to safety.

Totally agree Monks appointment was ludicrous yet made by a man who when he did had more experience as a football CEO then Gorringe.
Sacking Luadrup and replacing him with Monk cost us dear, I believe Luadrup would have led us to Europa league success had some players not been scared of lising their PL satus

I would agree about Vipotnik, as much as I like him and think he’s been very good this season, I don’t think he’s what Matos would want for this style of play. We’ll more than likely be looking to sell him in the summer to bring in a more pressing forward as you say. I hope it works out here for Idah, even though the price is apparently nowhere near that 7m people keep repeating it was still a decent outlay for us.

Need to recruit more pace in general to be honest if we’re committing to the press. Look at Salah and Mane for Liverpool, both rapid and ideally what is needed for what we’re trying to do.

Bit early for you to be on here rambling.

Come back when you've found a post of mine slagging off the appointment of Matos.

My memory is off. Wasn't we on a not so good run of results and instead of facing the issues at the club, Laudrup was going on a trip to France the next day which didn't go down well with the club. Pretty much clocked out.

Not sure of the exact ins and outs of it all. I'm sure Monk was probably whispering sweet nothings in to Gonzo's ear at the time.

As expected, you can't find anything relating to what you suggested and now it's me that can't read.

Skippy calling me odd is a personal highlight.
As I said, can't read.. making stuff up in your own head.. are you ok?
