Williams out

For the benefit of doubt, as funny as it would be to see his one gameplan fall to bits, I do not want him back either. Despite getting us to the playoffs twice, I absolutely hated watching his team, probably only Paulo Sousa's season was worse on the eyes.

I'm still saying let's back Williams properly in the next two windows and see where we are then. We're not going down this season, we're not going up. So let's give it a go. If these new owners have got anything about them they'll want to help him because our squad is pwp.
I hate it when people say "we're not going down, and we're not going up". We're probably way nearer the drop than people think, and it won't take too many repeats of last Saturday to be right in the middle of it. It's sheer arrogance.

Sousa did what he had to do with the players he had available in the circumstances he was working with.

Given Martinez's efforts to "scorched Earth" the club at the point of his departure, equalling his previous league placement never mind exceeding it has to go down as a significant achievement on Sousa's part.

I'm not being arrogant, far from it. If you asked me which scenario is more likely with this pool of players, I'd agree with you, we're more likely to go downwards than upwards.

But, on the balance of probabilities after nearly half a season completed, and assessing the rest of the division, the most likely outcome is that we stay more or less where our arses are plonked currently.

I don't think that's arrogance, that's just being pragmatic and applying a bit of common sense.

Interesting to see how the moaners on this are feeling now

We're far from perfect but could be a hell of a lot worse without Williams

'Franco- IN

Flo - IN (up top through the middle)

Willy - OUT, if we lose this'

Fact - you heard it here first

I think we’re exactly where we should be in the table - we’re just short of being a top 6 team… at times we play scintillating football… sometimes we look awful.

I still think we’re slowly progressing under Williams and it’s obvious what he’s trying to get us to be.

A firm in for me.

Common sense!

I think today's starting line up is as good as our squad allows. Great to watch and not too much of the walking and sideways stuff, there was a purpose in our play today.

Will LW be tempted to not run with that starting line up v Luton?

Four games in ten days tells me we won’t see the same eleven for Luton. It’s quite feasible that we see one or more of Naughton, Fulton, Vipotnik, MPH come into the line up.

Thought it was a tremendous first half, but most of us could have gone home at half time. What a boring and tedious second half. What is it with Luke Williams fist bumping at the end of the match? We haven't seen him for nearly a month ,due to successive home defeats, and then 1 win and he thinks he's the new messiah. Cringeworthy.

It's amazing how the likes of Cullen, Grimes, Bango, Ronald, Darling and Tymon manage to start every game but all the others get rotated so much.

As you say expect MPH and Vip to come in.

We are all built differently (I’m built for comfort, not for speed) and recover at different rates. Grimes seems to be a cut above the rest when it comes to long term fitness and recovery times, others might need four or five days to get back to peak level.

LW may have created a rather large problem for himself if we play shite on Sunday after he returns to the dressing room. Very strange behaviour. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cdxzgdve6y0o

I tend to agree.

On one hand, it's encouraging to see the players, in particular Captain Fantastic, taking responsibility for a change.

On the other hand, as you say, Williams has taken a huge risk and potentially undermined himself by letting the dressing room effectively run itself.

Could be a masterstroke - or could be a huge risk. Hard to tell right now. But we'll find out soon enough I think...
