Williams out

I had the privilege to watch a couple of training session under Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones, it was an eye opener, players only allowed two touches and a maximum 20 seconds in possession before the ball was turned over, the touch and go and movement off the ball was incredible to see.
Absolutely light years away from the type of players we have presently.
It’s what I call the long-time-married approach to training. You’re lucky if you get two touches…

I’m guessing you’re not a big fan of him employing our box-to-box midfield dynamo Josh Key? 🤣

It’s bizarre isn’t it? Maybe he’s trying to confuse the opposition, because he’s as sure as fk confusing us!

It’s football by numbers. Like me following a paint by numbers and thinking I’m Picasso
It's the new manager craze, because Pep does it, they think an average 2nd division player can do it, reality just doesn't enter heads these days, they point to spreadsheets and data like universities regularly do.. football is decided on a bounce of the ball ffs, turning it into a science just seems a bit dull

Orlandi and Gower were different gravy to these current lot, nevermind the likes of Nathan Dyer.. Agustien, Tiendalli on a different planet and these were mainly considered crap
Gower was a revelation. What Roberto, Sousa and then Brendan did with him was unreal. I was invited by Liverpool ST holders to the match at Anfield that first season in the PL and they were confounded by this ‘nobody’ who ran the midfield that day. It was almost a perfect day for him if he hadn’t blasted over from 15 yards out with about 15 minutes to go.

This lot aren’t fit to lace that squad’s boots.

I don't know if they are. I think Franco would have slotted nicely into that side. As much stick as I give Grimes, when he's "on it" he's a much better player than either of those two.

We had a style and a system that worked even if the individual parts weren't particularly outstanding. That's the major difference between now and then IMO. The way we play now makes players look worse, as opposed to then where even a mediocrity like Orlandi could do ok.

I said the exact same the other week

They’re all following the same manual and on the same WhatsApp group swapping tips. Like Norwich today trying to play out from the back. Why? They’re shit at it. A half decent opposition would have pressed and killed them.

I genuinely think that we won’t root out the problems in this club until we move to a manager who has the ability to smash the ridiculous power that some players seem to have.

It’s a pattern. Watch for all going ok until a few rumours start circulating about players being unhappy on the training pitch. then how quickly it descends into absolute carnage on the field.

It was like it when Monk was here and it’s like it now.
I agree with your diagnosis completely, but the problem we've got is that the treatment required is very expensive and you can't do it on the cheap.

So unless Mr Coleman and his band of merry men fancy dipping their hands in their pockets to get it done, it isn't going to happen. So on we trundle.

Nah, Orlandi and Gower had decent games in the Premier League, Grimes and Franco don't have decent games in the championship.. you think Grimes and Franco can go to Anfield and play them off the park?

Serious question, maybe in hope

If he is to be sacked would the club do it now while on the way back on the coach

Or announcing tomorrow?
It's clear that he is going it's just when. I imagine either Coleman will react tomorrow and announce on Monday. But I cannot see it. As will they do it before transfer day ends? As it might not help the club. Well that's what they may think. Personally, I think it will be after Coventry game if he loses. Either way, investors are rumoured to wanting to replace him a while back and with everything going on it's just when not if.

You're questioning why they don't have decent games in the Championship in a thread entitled "Williams Out". I'd suggest that's at least part of the answer.

It's a different Premier League (and a different Liverpool) so I'd be an idiot if I declared that those two could go to Anfield and play well. No way of knowing without doing so under a competent coach.

It does seem to be a pattern, but I don’t think a manager change is enough either. What’s the long term plan here, for the ambition, the team, recruitment, player trading, investment in facilities (for the future and to offset FFP losses), the academy, the ground, the community and fan engagement? Maybe there is one, but as a ST holder I’ve no idea what they’re trying to do.

There’s so much more leadership needed than a new manager can provide (imo).

Not a chance they go to Anfield back then and play them off the park, Grimes has been coached so badly in 6 years out of 7, he's programmed to be slow and safe, when the intensity and pressure will heat up he usually crumbles against anyone half decent.. Franco has potential, but it is a different planet up there

Back on topic:

Williams Out. The very Twpest manager I've met in recent years.

On a scale of 1-10 (a combo of IQ, EQ, and FQ) - where 1 is Twp as fack:
- Willy 1.5
- Martin 2.5
- Sheez 6
- Duff 7
- Coops 8.5

Our Cloob; our new uber wealthy North American ambitious, next level owners; our loyal (proper) fans; our richly assembled talented young guns, our gifted senior players with their roots embedded in our proper playing heritage; they all deserve far far better than this utter Willy, in so many ways.

We have the solution already in situ - Sheez, Marge, Matty and Joey - let Rip.......in proper Yellowstone fashion....unleash it now, 'prompto'

In Quorums, we tryst
