Williams out

That's my point. At our best 2007-13 tippy tappy it was not. It was clever, fast paced enjoyable football.

Not the bullshit tribute act we see at present.
I had the privilege to watch a couple of training session under Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones, it was an eye opener, players only allowed two touches and a maximum 20 seconds in possession before the ball was turned over, the touch and go and movement off the ball was incredible to see.
Absolutely light years away from the type of players we have presently.

Beaker is a lovely fella and an absolute legend but he doesn't strike me as the type with, shall we say, the cognitive capacity to lead a Championship football club. Joe Allen comes across as bright enough, but there's no experience and too much connection.

We absolutely need a clean sweep. No links to anything that has gone before and perhaps a long standing player or two out of the door as well.
Calling Alan Tate thick should be a banning offence.

Can you imagine this lot being asked to train like that 😂

In all seriousness it's the difference of elite managers, coaches to the current bang average type we currently have.

And that's the difference in mentality. The point of possession is to do something with it, not for it's own sake as people like Martin and Williams seem to believe.

I genuinely think that we won’t root out the problems in this club until we move to a manager who has the ability to smash the ridiculous power that some players seem to have.

It’s a pattern. Watch for all going ok until a few rumours start circulating about players being unhappy on the training pitch. then how quickly it descends into absolute carnage on the field.

It was like it when Monk was here and it’s like it now.
True root and branch action required.

It really was an eye opener, and very rarely did the ball get coughed up, Nathan Dyer in particular was different gravy.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Trundle.
That voice, booming around the dressing room would put the fear of God into the players.

He certainly wouldn't advocate inverted fullbacks as midfielders and your midfield captain playing sweeper.. he wouldn't put Bianchini a winger upfront and Peart the AM out on the wing.. as Mike basset would say.. 44 f*cking 2

I’m guessing you’re not a big fan of him employing our box-to-box midfield dynamo Josh Key? 🤣

It’s bizarre isn’t it? Maybe he’s trying to confuse the opposition, because he’s as sure as fk confusing us!

It’s football by numbers. Like me following a paint by numbers and thinking I’m Picasso

Even in his prime Dyer was probably a yard or two of pace short of the quickest players, but his first touch was usually excellent and he was at opposing fullbacks before they could get themselves set.

Little Nath remains one of my all time favourite players.

Orlandi and Gower were different gravy to these current lot, nevermind the likes of Nathan Dyer.. Agustien, Tiendalli on a different planet and these were mainly considered crap

Look I understand the piss taking on my Tate point. But at same time I don’t think you’re getting what I’m saying.

The idea is more related to buying time for wholesale changes.

It would be so easy to appoint someone on 3 yr contract that will look alright on paper but in reality we’re probably not going to get the right man for the long term on a whim.

We need the season to take stock and work out how to get out of our structural malaise. The Swansea way debate is spot on
