Got given a bottle of Port today, never tasted it before.

What do you mix it with, and is it a nice drink?

Don’t mix it with anything. The only thing you have to decide is whether to drink it in 100ml or 150ml lots.

What port is it as a matter of interest?

Just looked and it's Cockburns.

There's a couple of tap ins there I'm sure...

Cockburns are a big player. Ports are graded into types which is why I asked. There’s your bog standard, typically 19% abv, bog standard big player 20%, then up the scale with reserve types and, best of the bunch for mere mortals like ourselves imo, Late Bottled Vintage [LBV]. At the top of the scale are the vintage ports which start at about £25 and contain sediment and have to be decanted.

Just bought a couple of bottles of Taylor’s LBV for £10 a go down from £15 at Sainsbury’s.

Couple of glasses of port with some cheese at the end of a good swill. Banging. Fucking awful hangovers though. Kills me it does.

I had a couple of German friends around to lunch on Monday along with a couple of Brits. Decided to introduce the Germans to the delights of port and Stilton. Taylors Special Reserve, new bottle. They drank the feckin lot!

Tesco Finest Cahors Malbec is good stuff and value at £7.50. If you want a wine for strong cheese this is it.

Tesco Chablis supposed to be very good according to the delivery guys.

My old man has and is impressed

They have some decent stuff but a bit overpriced for others. They sell some good producers like Katie Jones. If you want cheap then Aldi is the best bang for buck. Otherwise join the Wine Society. Seriously good wine around the 10-15 quid mark.

Look, I've inherited Monnie's stalker! Fantastico! He's gone to the trouble of searching all my posts to find out my name. I can imagine him sitting behibd his computer screen in a darkened bedroom in his mam's house in his wank-stained vest and underpants, plotting his next post.
😂😂😂😂😂

Seriously though, Karl, you have some mental health issues. Seek help, son, we're all worried about you.

Also nice but not currently on offer (in Tesco) is Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec; an incredibly smooth red and a steal when it’s on offer. Has been as low as £6 so have your eyes on this one. £9 a bottle otherwise.

Trapiche IS NOW currently on offer in Tesco at £6 a bottle. You’ll have to go a long way to beat this; lovely at £9 so imagine my delight at 6 x £6 this afternoon.

Tonight’s going to be great, tomorrow will be a write off.

Started on a magnum of "The Guv'nor" last night that someone bought us. A Spanish red, around £7 from Majestic, that I think would appeal to a lot of people. I used it in the spag bol as well and was told that it was the best I'd made for a long time. It's no wine w@nk

If you didn't enjoy it, and rather than waste it, mix it with WKD blue for a cheeky vimto. That's if you like vimto.

£4.50 at the moment if you buy it England in the Tesco 25% off 6 bottles promotion. Offer on until tomorrow. Had a trip to Ellesmere the other day as it's just over the border.
