I'm not one for private schools but the knock on effect is there will be more kids going to state schools which is hardly going to help.

Ideology has overtaken pragmatism.

This was flagged up by Labour over a year ago and, in that time, the number of pupils in private education has risen.
There will be a marginal effect but, to the vast majority whosend their kids to be privately educated, it's a drop in the ocean.
