Trained with squad today.

I’m genuinely struggling to see the point of this. From a financial perspective I mean.

I’m sure he’s a lovely player but the chance of us achieving the playoffs must be remote and I’d assume that finding permanent deals that can aid our longer term aspirations would be a better use of our limited funds,
We are desperately short in key areas for the longer term and yet can’t seem to find the funds to do much about it. Spending money on a short term loan with no prospect of it turning permanent appears odd to me.

This isn’t a great window to date. Assuming each window should be a step to shaping a squad I’m not sure what we are doing save trying to deal with the goalkeeping situation.

<< Swans didn’t want to pay that fee?
I’ve been aware all of the way through, we have to raise money to make signings. It’s been clear since the summer. We’re not swimming in the same pond that we were, parachute payments have gone. Someone’s been able to raise the finance. He was a target for us, of course. He fits the profile and a player we’ve worked with. But there were other clubs looking at him as well. I don’t feel let down or angry, it’s where we are at. I’m comfortable with that. The business we’ve done I think is fantastic. Cyrus is going to help us, you saw that on Saturday. Ben’s [Hamer] performance was raised with Fish in the building. And now you have Hannes who came because of the way we played and what we’ve discussed. Whatever happens, I think we’re going to end up stronger. >>

Imagine my surprise.

Edited - ok that was weird - your post to which I replied completely changed by the time I posted.

Anyway - my lack of surprise was for you suggesting that things weren’t going so great.

I changed my post I did, as after I said cracks were appearing me had a comment that he wasn't angry or upset and he knew we needed to sell to bring in. So I think I jumped the gun.

We have expected fees coming in for the likes of Fulton/Dhanda and it's backfired.

We do utterly stupid things though don’t we in terms of getting any value.

We don’t play a player for months, make it crystal clear we want him gone and then cup tie him for no reason decreasing value for half the clubs who may be interested.

Amateur hour.

We are shopping in Harrods with an Aldi budget unfortunately so better get used to it.

MK Dons isn’t Harrods.

I agree with being sensible. However, I also think there should be a detailed plan of where we are, personnel wise, where we want to be and how to get from one to the other.

Thank includes sensible planning for exits, making sure we do everything possible to secure exits on a pragmatic basis (not cup tie-ing players we want to go a few days before we want them to go), looking at gaps and how we fill them and to be honest, not spending money on ‘look at me’ loans that have no possible benefit to us as a club.

It would also help if we stopped thinking that people can come here to ‘run stuff’ when there’s absolutely no basis for an assumption that they know how to do that.

There is little point in this loan in terms of developing for the future, we are unlikely of making the playoffs granted. So why bother, you may well ask. But the point of this is just to get bodies in to avoid us from having to turn to Dhanda, to actually have any options off the bench. It's a given, is it not, that Ntcham is highly, highly unlikely to play every game, same goes for Obafemi. Also, I very much doubt Wolf would have been signed if it wasn't for the impending departure of Patison.

Was goalkeeper really a problem that needed solving? There’s a pungent reek of ego coming from somewhere. Are we going to keep trashing players, or are we going to develop what we have?

Was thinking that earlier actually, freezing Fulton was a big mistake.

Well done me it was around bottom of the list to be honest.
