Relegation to L1 if the owners moved on ?

That’s what it might take unfortunately but there’s some talk there’s things happening behind the scenes with some movement expected so let’s see what happens.

Not based on the club - I'm not sure we have any level of plan for relegation, we didn't last time, not sure we will this time.

Look at some of the clubs that go down, they come back stronger, not sure we are in that position?

And, as much as I would like to see the back of these charlatans, who in reality is in the wings waiting to take over?

I hadn't thought of it like that before now but you're probably right.

Christ knows what they'll do if we go down again. There'd be a drop in money so they could sell half the team again (not that I think there'd be takers for many), they could plonk us in administration, anything could happen. They don't do planning. They do reactions.

A few posters on here thought that about getting relegated from the Premier league, that we would have been competitive, start winning games and the football would be more enjoyable. That's worked out well hasn't it, crowds are dwindling , the football is awful and there is unrest at the club between owners, manager and supporters. I said at the time it wasn't a good idea, the city benefitted massively from us being there, and i don't think relegation again would benefit us. I know you can come back stronger as Birmingham look like they are doing, but it can also go the other way ,like Stockport or Wrexham, and spend years in the wilderness.

Exactly this - I fail to see how relegation at any level can be seen as a good thing. Our problem when we fell out of the Premier League was also not helped by the fact that we had spent a couple of summers previously paying stupid money for players not up to the job (Bony MKII, Ayew MkII, Clucas etc) and gave them wages way beyond the money we should have been paying for anyone. Then having to sell them for cut downs of that price and in some cases (Ayew, Bony) carry on paying them at stages in the Championship.

We have been badly run now for many years and we certainly wont plan for relegation - I think we will be nearer the sides that linger in the lower divisions rather than bounce straight back strongly

I challenge anyone to list the good decisions that the owners have made since they took over...

I appreciate the idea that relegation would scare off the owners, and long term, potentially have a great effect for the club - I do however, massively disagree with the notion that it's a good thing for us to go down.

Teams no smaller than us have fallen into League 1 and never gotten back - Charlton, Bradford (even worse), Sunderland had three seasons there, Portsmouth longer, Bolton and Reading (admittedly a unique case) don't look to be leaving any time soon.

You're essentially taking a high risk gamble on the owners clearing off or deciding to put their hand in their pocket, when they could just as easily strip us of even more assets, and leave us to float in League 1 for a decade.

I think that we're in real danger of something arguably worse - the Championship Purgatory. Just years and years of us doing enough to avoid relegation and nothing else. Think Preston, Bristol City and QPR. That won't change until an onwership shift either, but will likely take longer to force as it'll be a case of 'out of sight, out of mind'.

I still don’t see these owners leaving if we drop to League 1.

They’d probably try and sell off off any meaningful assets - training ground etc

I think it would be the worst thing to happen to us.

Tough one to answer, ideally we get it sorted quickly whilst we are still in the champ.
What is happening with Nigel Morris presently, is it happening with him?
I think Martin Morgan is due back in the country with something Swansea related anytime now. I think something is on the the horizon soon.

It's a good question. On balance I reckon it's better to remain in the Championship. The risks and uncertainties of relegation outweigh the current status quo. Even though that is clearly unsatisfactory.

If they sell, it's better to sell a club that's in the Championship.

And who knows, maybe we get a lucky break in actually getting a good striker...it's about time we bucked the poor trend of late !

So we just suck up the turgid play, support the players on the pitch as best we can...and hope for the best. But in the Championship.
