When asked about a potential deal for Phillips, Williams said: "I don't know too much at the moment so I can't tell you more. I don't know how far we are down the line with that one."

As for speculation about a move for Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan, Williams added: "I don't know too much about that one. Whether that's got any legs to it, I don't know."

Sounds like there's at least something in Phillips, even if it's just speculative.

Tbf, if Low was our priority, we've been in for him from pretty much day one of the window. It's a pain to only be looking at the alternatives in the flesh now, but it's not as if we'd have just sprung open Fotmob and guessed a centre-back based on numbers.

I doubt it's a player from the top division, since we're refusing to pay a few grand extra for our main CB transfer target at a time when we have no other fit CBs.

Wycombe will be entitled to a development fee for Low anyway so the final value of that transfer would almost definitely be higher than what has been reported

Had a quick look and nothing that really stood out as a possibility except the lad Jacobs at Almere City.

Well you'd think that this month's of preparation would involve scouting 1 or 2 alternatives to the main target who evidently was not a shoe-in to join
