• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

This thread is now as tedious, never ending and ultimately pointless as your average Matt Grimes performance.
Yep. Tbh, I don’t get the love or hate for Grimes. He’s a half decent Championship player who isn’t great and isn’t shit.

He’s capable of scoring in the top corner from outside the box once in a blue moon, and he’s also capable of sucking the enjoyment out of an orgasm.

Nailed it. If you looked up “nondescript” in the dictionary the definition should be accompanied by a photo of Matt Grimes. See also the definition for the term “stupid beard”.

This particular plum deals in facts - so I see your plum and raise you a turnip. By statistical definition the likes of Lampard would be more likely injured than a defensive midfielder.
I get you passionately dislike Matt Grimes - but don't blind yourself to his amazing availability statistics, otherwise you will look a bit of a errr nana

In soccer, midfielders and defenders are most often injured. Studies have shown that midfielders experience the highest injury frequency, followed by defenders. These positions require high-speed activities and intense gameplay, potentially increasing their risk of injury during the later stages of a game.
Midfielders experienced the highest injury frequency (43.6%), followed by defenders (30.0%), forwards (17.9%), and goalkeepers (8.6%)
At some point I have to accept that trying to even make a point to you is like playing chess with a pigeon. You'll always flap your wings, knock over the king and claim you won.

Problem is with all of your points is that you cherry pick your stats to make out hes better than he is. Commentator tonight on radio "Why's he slowing the ball down there all the time, theres overload on the wings". Tell me where you can draw a "fact" (see also running the numbers again until they meet your hypothesis) from that objective viewpoint that most held. You'll then see your issue, what most fans have a gripe with him for is something that cant be measured in xG or anyother meaningless number you spout.

I am not saying that he is Messi - he is a championship player at best. However, he was being dissed for being available every week- and I take exception to that. Every club needs these and he is objectively very good at what he does - you just don’t like what it is he offers..
As someone said above - what does Frank Lampard know that even approaches the football knowledge of a keyboard warrior?
I have tried to argue with facts, and that is not flapping wings and knocking over chess pieces.
Shunning facts in favour of personal opinions and then calling people plums is an alternative approach for sure..

I will bow out of this debate, as my old dad advised - it is never a good idea to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man!
I am off to get a night cap - Nos da!

Seems his wife caused some stir tonight online, stating players are leaving us, we forced Grimes out etc, ain’t seen it myself but no doubt someone has.

I started this thread way back with an insightful observation by a Coventry fan on Grimes' style of football.

Tbh, I think the thread has run its course now. Getting a bit tedious like a lot of his play.

He's gone, he was a decent servant for us, mainly playing to the orders of Martin and Williams. And I for one won't boo him when he next visits us in the Championship.

But on a lighter note, here's some Coventry fans thoughts on some songs for him 😂

1
"Sideways and backwards everywhere he goes, sideways and backwards everywhere he goes, everywhere he goes"

2
"When you score you make the city sing
Matty on the wing
Matty Grimes on the wing
Every time you’re on the ball we know
There's gonna be a goal
Our superstar from Exeter"

Grimes on the wing 😯. Now that's something none of us have ever thought about 😂😂

People understandably get frustrated when posters like yourself use statistics to champion a player whom everyone else (I’d say 99.5%) of fans have seen his lack of impact in the games he’s participated in. And the difference in the side after he left. A lot of people were fooled and bought into the “he was the most consistent” fallacy. None of the managers who he was “first name on the team sheet” ever showed any interest in taking him with them after leaving. Fulham (amongst the other 90 clubs) wouldn’t even take him on a free!
That tells me all I need to know.

Wish I’d taken screenshots, she let rip on the OnlySwans instagram and made herself look ridiculous.

She was even banging on about how he helped us win our “precious double double that we always bang on about”.

My attitude toward grimes leaving was this, all the best to him, take the cash while you can, football is a business in both ends of the spectrum players and directors

Fact - it’s easy to avoid injury as a footballer by not going in for tackles.
