When Wharton moved to Palace for £18 million up to £22 million, he only played 18 games for Blackburn, starting 12, in the previous season. His stats were good (7.07 on Fotmob) but not spectacular. What this shows is that if all the evaluation, video and data analysis and scouting, suggests a very good player, with excellent potential, then clubs are going to get in there early. They're not going to wait for the player's value to increase further. Franco may be seen in that light. So did they not see his potential when he was playing in their league?
I like Franco . He's done well for us. Yes he will make us a profit. Would clubs really risk £10m on him at this stage? Can't see that happening just now. Maybe after next season if he keeps improving.
